I wonder if the pictures are of a SE or GLE type of trim. Hmmm, would love to see pictures of an SE trim, white with black interior. Nissan, I'm waiting!

Oppss..
I think Freshalloy got in trouble with Nissan, now some
pictures have been removed and the rest have been blurred.
BTW...I dunno if anybody noticed (when the pics were not blurred) what looked to be a manu-matic tranny in the interior shot. Kewl!

I'm with you Bert.
Maxes all the way. That's the reason why I chose to get my Max now...before it became a full-size sedan. Later on, when I get myself a family, I'll be ready for the super-size Max then.
The pics do look nice...way to go Nissan!

That car most likely VERY close to production. I would imagine the wheels may be differnet and tails could be too. Other than that....that looks like the car. They are formally releasing it tomm in NYC. GO NISSAN. Each car that comes seems to be much better than the car it replaces. Take the sentra....and now se-r. The 2000 Sentra is WORLDS better than the car it replaced. So is this new altima...style, power, and size. The 2003 Maxima will be the same as it goes upscale, gets rwd and V8. Each car will be a leader. And nissan has been good at keeping the price down lately too

I don't want the max to be full sized. How full is full-sized, are we talking Ford Crown Victoria (cop car/old people car) big? I like it the way it is. I'd buy another max only if they kept the same basic design but put a larger engine in. Hell with it, by then the Z car will be out!!

I believe full-size for the future Max is similar to that of the Toyota Avalon. Nissan is planning big on becoming a force in the US.

I was thinking before I read your post that it looked like the new Volkswagon Passat, which is the car the A6 is based on.

I Don't Like It...
Sorry guys but I don't see the appeal. I like my Maxima way better than this Honda Accord/Audi TT Hybrid. Well, in the front at least. The roofline is clearly VW Passat and Lexus GS on the rear quarter panel. And the rear... Oldsmobile Aurora/Lexus IS (Altezza). Sorry Nissan, but you can keep this one!

Edmund's has redesigned their site and now has a "Future Telling" section. Here's what they've got to say about some of the future Nissan cars (No specific call-out for the Maxima except for what's in the paragraph re: the 2002 Altima) :
2002 Altima (Small Sedan)
Word on the street has the new Altima getting a serious dose of power and refinement in its upcoming redesign. It will likely move to an all-new platform, touting a 105-inch wheelbase and growing to a 188-inch overall length. Look for the new Altima to compete more directly with the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry as the Maxima moves further upscale.
2003 350Z (Sports Car)
Scheduled to arrive in the United States in the spring of 2002 as a 2003 model, Nissan recently unveiled the latest concept version of its highly anticipated Z car at the 2001 North American International Auto Show. Motivation will come from a 260+ horsepower, 3.5-liter V6. Price is said to be below $30K — we can hardly wait.
As for some of the competition:
2002 Passat W8 (Midsize Sedan)
Gearing up for its eventual head-on collision with BMW and Mercedes, Volkswagen debuted the W8-powered Passat at the 2001 Geneva Auto Show. Backed by a six-speed manual transmission and 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, the 275-hp W8 has the goods to compete with Germany's big-buck sedans. Add to that a vast array of options like Alcantara sport seats, an integrated navigation/video unit and a digital sound system, and you can be sure that this is one VW that won't go unnoticed.
2003 Porsche 980
Although its existence is denied by Porsche officials, rumors have been circulating throughout the German automotive press for some time now about a new supercar currently in development. Details are sketchy, but early guesses pin the horsepower number around 700 and the top speed at over 220 mph. Power will likely come from an enlarged version of the 4.5-liter aluminum V8 from the upcoming Cayenne SUV. Unlike the GT1 that was more race car than street machine, the 980 will likely incorporate standard luxury features like a leather interior, airbags, and a satellite navigation system.
Ok, so we're not even close to being in the same league as this last one, but dang... 700HP?!!!
