Engine bay appearance-2nd try (much better)

Some of you may recall my last attempt at making a cover/valence for the front of the engine bay (to cover gaps and put stickers on mostly) turned out looking like crap (I agree)...

well, here is my 2nd try:
As you can see, I left the middle section of the plexiglass clear so the engine cover can be seen through it (the rest of it is painted, obviously). The other cutouts are for access to the oil dipstick and ratiator cap....the boost sensor (normally attached to OEM scoop) is attached at the driver's side of the piece....it's a nice place to put stickers, rather than have them all over the car (unless of course you're sponsored, which I'm not!)

Another $25 Home Depot Mod...brought to you by the Home Depot

Nice valence...but why would you need a valence for a front wheel drive car? Usually rear wheel drive cars like the Z have that.

Hey irish, the lower intake manifold (i think, the area where your spark plugs go or where the valve cover is), try painting that black with some engine enamel and wetsand it. I did it to mine and it will match your valance better. Ill see if I can get some pix.

really for appearance only...no "practical" reason for it, I just wanted to clean up the engine bay looks a bit....

comeon....haven't you figured me out yet? I never leave anything as-is...always have to have a little paint, a little custom color on there, just for the hell of it. The Otto bar is pretty boring so I did some color "highlighting"....
this is what happens when you have a cabinet full of spray paint left over from other non-car projects

I hate rice on the outside of the car, but don't necessarily mind a little rice under the hood, I guess

Well....

If you have some of that color left, you might think about matching the strut cup pieces, your midpipe, and maybe the battery tie down.

You got a lot of different colors going on.

Alot of different colors?
I see red as the only color, plus the normal tones that will always be there: black, silver, grays.......typical engine colors. Oh sorry, there's that little yellow sticker on the radiator cap..... have to take that off. BTW the midpipe is the same red as the FSTB and engine cover...just looks different because of the lighting in the photo I guess....

but you guys make it sound like I have things painted green, yellow, red, blue, and pink!!

why do I need to paint the battery tiedown? The battery is black, the tiedown is black.....seems like it matches to me

I bet you guys put red shoelaces on your kicks when you're wearing a red shirt, huh?

I figured it was...but you don't have any newer ones posted on your site...

"graffiti collage"....ok well that's creative I guess

With all due resepect Ice, if you hadn't noticed, the thread was about neither my engine bay colors nor my FSTB......so why don't you go ahead and say that you think the valence thingy I made is , or say you like it, or make a comment about it, and leave it as that....all this talk by the mods about "flaming will not be tolerated" and here is a moderator doing some off-topic flaming of his own.....

Irish man I always like the way you think.... "Outside the box". Personally I'm not going to do this mod, but it's getting there. If you could somehow make it extend farther to the left and farther back, that would look pretty good.

probably will...this is "stage I" I still have more plexiglass in the basement to mess with eventually..
the main problem with extending it is figuring out how to retain access to oil dipstick, fuse boxes, reservoirs, headlights (for bulb changes), etc....also figuring out how to attach it on the sides....this one is held there by 2 "L" brackets using the top mount bolts for the radiator....

You're thinking something like this:

damn, some spraypaint from walmart, some plexiglass and my dremel I guess and I'd be set... I really like this idea, maybe if I EVER have copious amounts of spare time that's not spent FIXING my car I'll try doing some mods like this
