2K2 Maxima SE with new 18" rims, now needs lowering- ideas?

Greetings all,

I've just put on BF Goodrich G-Force KDW 225-40-18s around Enkei RPO7 18" rims, and I'm planning to lower the car with possibly an Eibach Pro-kit. I'm curious to know if anyone else has this or a similar configuration already and can tell me if the ride is reasonably comfortable or jarring, or if I should go one step farther and get a full Pro-System (springs, shocks, and dampers). I've heard two schools of thought- that the springs alone will work well for a smooth ride while getting rid of that godawful gap between the top of the tire and the wheel well, and that springs alone might cause early wear on the stock shocks and struts and so I should go with a Pro- System anyway. Ideas, thoughts? Thanks!

A word about the tires: right out of the shop I noticed that the over-steer problem has disappeared- these BFGs hold like velcro. Very, very happy with the handling performance they give.

If you are most interested in the best ride (but not necessarily the lowest drop), the general consensus tends to rate the H&R, Maxspeed, and Progress springs (in that order) as the best ride, all of them with Tokico Illumina struts (which have 5 settings of soft to hard ride for adjustability).....

I wouldn't suggest putting aftermarket springs (especially low ones like Eibachs) with your OEM struts....the strut will blow fast and will not give a good ride quality (because of slower rebound/compression rates)....

I rode with Eibachs and OEM struts for about 8 months, before I blew a strut. So the OEM struts may not blow that quickly...

But I still wouldn't recommend the Eibachs if you're looking for a not-so-jarring ride.

If you haven't already, I'd look into a rear sway bar and front strut tower brace... these should box up your suspension nicely... after that, you can get the rear strut tower brace, lower tie bar and if you're really serious, the sub-frame connectors...

If you can afford a true coilover system, get that instead of a spring/strut combo. Examples are JIC's, TEIN's, D2's, Cattman's, etc...

That's what I was afraid of... The Eibach Pro setup gives only 1.0 inches
of drop in the back with 1.3 inches front, just about what I wanted. The Sportline kits give 2.0"+, which I knew would kill the OEM struts over time.
I just wasn't sure about the Pro kit. One way or the other, the best combo for simple lowering with a smooth ride is spings with upgraded struts, yes?

Thanks again!
