Well, the dealer's putting in a new transmission for me at 53k miles.
He said there was metal in the pan and the fluid was pitch black.

So I got to talking to him about it and he said that this is one of only a couple of 2002's he's seen with junked trannies, but plenty of 2k/2k1 that slip. Mine was slipping real bad on the 2-3 upshift and hesitating badly on takeoff.

At least it's being covered under warranty!

Just thought I'd post and let 2k2/2k3 owners know you are not immune from crappy Nissan auto transmission failures. Check your fluid often

 

That's cool that your getting a new trans. I have about 47k now and think I blew my tranny mounts. Thank god I got the 84 month 100k extended wty. Got to get over to Nissan quick....
