2001 SE 20th Anniversary Edition VS. 2000 Infiniti I30
I'm in the middle of puting one of these engines in my 4thgen I want to know what exactly makes the 227HP 2001 20TH Anniversary maxima have 5 more horses than the base 222HP 2000 and 2001 maxima's? And I figure that the 2001 Anniversary model is the same engine offered in the 2000 Infiniti I30. Was there any change from the 2000 I30 engine to the 2001 anniversary engine thats a whole year and same 227HP? Last but not least I know I will have to get the wiring harness and ECU to do this If I'm wrong please let me know.

All the hidden HP is in the ECU, they are different, the rear muffler has curved down tips but its basically the same thing as the 2000 Maxima muffler other than that. You will need the ignition switch, ECU, harness to make it all work. If your 4th gen does not have immobilizer than you will need the ignition switch portion to start the car up. You could use the stock 4th gen wire harness and ECU but the VIAS wouldn't work, and the car would run rich as 00-up use larger injectors- same as the 350Z as a matter a fact.

BTW, with that engine, I recommend you pull off the VIAS control box and do the JB Weld fix we're talking about in this thread-

It can make or break the performance. The thing could even perform similar to a 4th gen's engine without that mechanism working properly.
This is in relation to the VIAS, BTW. The VIAS is the premier horsepower/torque-increasing feature of the 2k-2k1 VQ30DE-K engine. I suggest you wire it up using something similar to what the MEVI guys use, e.g. Summit RPM switch. You won't need a vacuum tank though, it has one built into the manifold (part of that VIAS control box, although part of the tank is inside the manifold with a hole exposed to the VIAS control box).

one of the differences is the stock intake setup, the oil separator is different, and there is no downpipe before the ram air setup where the temp sensor is. the intake is the same as the I30, with no baffle below the filter, the ecu is different, and the b-pipe, other than that, i'm not sure
