RSB Issue

I have my Progress RSB installed and I'm not completely pleased with the performance, yet. I'm not sure how far the U-bolts are placed on the back of the bar but I have them about 4 inches from the ends. Is that ok? I tightened all nuts with a a ratchet, I don't know how high I should torque them, is there a measurement, should I take out a torque wrench? I checked the brackets and all are tightened very tight but the car seems to roll much more when turning right than when turning left.

Is it that the front of my car isn't tightened as much as the rear and I'm observing the discrepancy or do I need to retighten/reinstall it?

i just installed mine a few weeks ago, mine made loud banging noises over every little bump, does yours, maybe its the way i have mine setup. my brackets are all the way out, im going to move them farther in cause i read in the FAQs that rids the banging, but i think its makes it softer, try puttin your brackets farther apart, maybe thatll make more of a differnce in handling.

do u have any other suspension mods, stb?

I guess I can move them out further, but will the nuts come off? They are lock nuts, are you supposed to remove those and put them back on? I have no other suspension mods, I want to get a FSTB, I guess that will work, I'm surprised the car doesn't have a FSB.

the rsb has almost no effect on body roll. i believe it's meant to reduce the swaying back and forth of the rear while in a turn or when coming out of a turn thus helping the car to be more controllable. adding the fstb will help with the stability of the car as well but won't reduce body roll either. both of these mods together really help the max to be more controllable/predictable during sharp cornering, switchbacks, or emergency manuevers.

before i did these two the car was much less stable/sure footed during turns. i felt like i constantly needed to correct the direction because of the floating/swaying. in my case this is now gone with the rsb/fstb. the body roll is still there, but not as pronounced and much more predictable.

if you want less body roll you'll have to upgrade your springs and struts.

with my JIC's on level 3(middle most setting, cause i have the US1's) with my rsb and fstb, she handles rather nice, im getting a ltb and a rstb to finish off the suspension. sadly i think my SHO on eibachs and tokicos still handles better, thats just not right, maybe i need to tune more.

The Max has a huge front swaybar, that's one reason the RSB is needed to balance the handling. Your car is old enough to possibly need new end link bushings for the front bar. It is very unlikely that either swaybar could make the car lean more one way than the other, more likely a dead shock or your weight on one side.

You're right, there is a front sway bar, it is just hidden under the middle section of the car. My last car ('99 3.2TL) had very visible sway bars and I remember when I installed my Comptech front and rears it was just a matter of taking of the old thin ones and putting on the new much thicker and stronger ones.

Here's the update: I "adjusted" the sway bar. I put it on it's tightest setting and it really makes a world of improvement now. I'm loving this easy mod.
