Ordered my eyelids.

Well, I finally found some pretty nice looking eyelids on eBay for my 01. I'll likely get them this week since the distributor lives in Staten Island. I'll take pics as soon as I put them on. I'm stoked. =D

Thanks for the link. Glad you finally got some!

Post pics when they're installed. One tip - the 3M tape with the red backing (moulding tape) has the strongest adhesive. I have replaced the 'factory' tape with this stuff on my eyelids and rear roof spoiler. It sticks so much better.

What about if I want take the lids off? Wouldn't it leave nasty residue? Or could that be wiped away easily?

I haven't removed anything with the red backed adhesive. but the factory tape came off fairly easily. It pretty much rolled off with my finger. IIRC I had to use a small amount of Goo Gone for the bit of residue that remained.

Are these black, do you have to paint them?

I really like the eyelids, but I don't think they would look good on my car (white). I feel that if they were painted to match the white, it just wouldn't look very good.

Any thoughts

I bought them myself and they are bad. We all could have made them ourselves with the material they are using.

I wasted $50.00 on them and than I gave some bad feedback.

Hey Razorfish... azboy2g was only able to give me a picture of the 2k3 eyelids installed on halo lights... when you meant bad... did yo umean the fitment or the quality itself?

I was going to buy it from him but im hesitant. I rather buy from LCT (triple8sol) than anyone else....

Honestly, if I had a second chance I would have NOT bought them from that guy on Ebay.

The eyelid is made from a thick vinyl which I think you could buy from some arts and crafts store. It was cut very nice with some machine I would say but you have to prime it/paint it with a flex agent additive in the paint so that it won't crack.

Its too late for me but I am going to paint them. Also to mention that I got it damaged the first time around and than he resent me new ones after I sent them back.

I might just take his molding and perhaps see if I can try to engineer ones made out of fiberglass or something else. Hmmm could be a small business.

my eyelids post (PIC is in there) if you wonna see what tehy look like.
BTW> i was ready to go kick that guys *** when i recieved them i thougth they were made out a better material. but i guess they grew on me. and no they are not primed. u gonna have to prime and paint them. Like RAZORFISH said too much money for the material they used. and i was also thinking about using it as a mold and making a new set for myself out of a better material.

Thats what were here for, to help each other. I wish someone warned me in the first place about this guy who is selling them on Ebay.

"Well", I only can make the best of it and try to have them painted and matched from my buddy that owns a shop.

I'll post pics when I'm done and I might just try to take the mold and make something better later on.

"However, we now only sell them in Primed color, they have a paintable surface."

That's what he said to me. Hrmmm...primed color. I wonder what he means. :\
