Clutch Replacement on 2k Maxima SE
Hi,
I have about 92k miles on 5 speed maxima. Clutch feels really easy and catches almost at the end of the range of motion of the pedal. I can notice slight difference week to week driving. I think its time for a new clutch thing. Is that something that can be done on the back yard, or does it require a lift (if the ramp won't do). How much is it at the mechanic to replace? Or if I am to get the parts, what parts I need (pressure plate, flywheel, bearing and what else?)?
Thanks.
Nick

Mine is the same way, but I have a ACT clutch in mine that is failing. You could do this in the garage with some jack stands but it is not too EZ to do. I do them on a lift for people here, 350 labor. You will need Pressure plate, clutch disk, throwout bearing, and a aligment tool. Some high temp wheel bearing grease to grease up the throwout bearing snout on the trans- where the bearing slides back and forth on. Ramps will not do the trick as you need to remove the wheels, and pop the axles out. Althou I see alot of people leave the passenger side axle installed and remove it out of the tranny when they remove the trans, when reinstalling the trans its a PITA to align the axle, and you risk the chance of destroying the axle seal on the tranny. Which will cause a tranny leak in the very near future.
