proformance of my 2k maxima ant there
I have had the car since the 5'th gen was release (well about 2 weeks after it came out). I have done very little to it besides oil changes, and new air filters, and spark plugs...oh and a fuel filter.
I hit the gas, and it is just sluggish, no sudden surge of power, or even delayed surge of power. Also, when I am running around town doing 35-50 and hit the gas, it often drops gear and just revs up like mad but does not accelerate worth anything. when it goes to the next higher gear it starts to move again. But this is just depressing and disappointing.
I always us 93 octain in the gas
Got around 100k on it and finally have some $ I can put into it.
Is it just a computer issue or do I have to replace a bunch of junk?
I have access to a car lift if I feal like dealing with my Dad (which I dont) but if that makes thigns easier I got it.
Thanks
Greg

can I get that in laymen's terms now?
Better yet, any quick wright up's on it? Not to be a pain in the ***.
as in mass air flow sensor? and the ignition coiles? whould those really help in proformance if they are not causing issues? not that I know or not.

READ the STICKIES..............MAF = Mass Air Flow Sensor... Coil packs, just read the stickies. The whole job shouldn't take longer than an hour, max 1.5 since you seem to be a newbie.

MAF is not a problem. Clean the throttle body (BE VERY CAREFUL) and replace the coil packs (this is a known issue). There is also a engine cleaner, (seaspray, seafoam, whale sperm, can't remember) that supposedly works wonders for cars with some age on them.

9 out of 10 times, is is the maf, or coils for the hesitation. throttle body cleaning helps a little. I have never read that the BK44(SP) does anything.

i say you try and clean the maf. if that does not do it, buy a new one from jerryrome. it will cost you 88 bucks. then go the coils route. twilln, here on the org, sells them for 260. I changed the maf, coils and plugs at 100K. and she drives like new. no more hesitation at all.
