Frozen Rotors vs. 04 rotors

I am either going to get matt's bbk with the 04 maxima rotors and factory calipers or go with my factory size slotted frozen rotors. I have a s/c so i use my brakes qiute a bit. Is there realy going to be any difference between the two. And the reason im not going with 300z calipers is that i still have factory 17's.

frozen rotors will make the rotor live longer and not be so warp prone. But will not significantly improve your braking. Matt's kit will improve your braking performance and will probably solve your warp problems. So if those are your choices, to with the bbk. I love my bbk kit, but it ain't Matt's kit.

i just noticed how much the frozen rotors cost and am probabl going to go wit matt's kit for sure. But i would still like to hear the respones from his kit with still keeping the stock caliper.

IMHO, the reason why these bbk kits work to help the brake distance is because the caliper is out futher. ie.. bigger rotors. The increased torque arm advantage of the move caliper seems to make the bigger difference in brake dist performance. 300z calipers will improve the fade resistance as well as performance.

but my problem is that i would need to spend another $330 on wheel spacers to make the 300z calipers work, plus the kit itself with the calipers is more expensive(which it obviously should be).

Just be sure your STOCK calipers aren't sticking like mine were... trashed a set of 04 rotors with matt's kit, which I am blaming on the stuck right front caliper. Something still ain't right with my front end though.

I've been happy with Matt's kit with stock calipers...no problems

By far the braking power is impressive with Matt's kit. My original setup used Axxis Metal Master pads, and until the rotors warped, I've never had that much braking confidence in a car I've owned ever. Even after they warped, they stopped really fast. The current setup is iRotors with Bendix IQ Titanium metallic pads, they fade more under heavy braking and don't generally perform as well as the Axxis MM, but they still perform better than the stock rotors + ceramic pads did...

I also use Bendix Titaniums and agree...

should i put out the money to get frozen 04 rotors and insure that they will not warp?

Well, like Jeff92se said, 04 rotors won't necessarily solve your warpage problems, depending on their root cause (runout, pad size, etc.)...

If it's braking power you're after more than anti-warpage, get Matt's kit. You can give the frozen rotors a try, since they'll resist the warpage more.

well what i am saying is that i am definitly getting matts kit, but instead of just using normal 04 rotors that comes with his kit i could get frozen rotors. That way i will get more braking performance from his kit as well as not warp them since they will be cryotreated. Also what are some good pads to use, and i know what slotting does but should i get it or just get blanks.

Axxis pads (Metal Masters, Ultimates) had excellent performance for me. They're very hard on the rotors, but maybe that won't be as big of a problem with the Frozen Rotors... although they might squeak a lot. The Ultimates aren't supposed to produce as much noise as the Metal Masters.

I don't honestly thing them "being hard on the rotors" have anything to do with warpage, since warpage is due to pad deposits mainly.

I can attest for Frozen Rotors and their effectiveness. The rotors on my Dodge Dakota are from them, and not only have I never had to get them honed/resurfaced, I've never had to replace them! They've been on my truck since December 2001...

Do they have a website? Would this have the same effect as getting regular rotors and having them cryoed?

yes, http://www.frozenrotors.com/

It should be the same as having regular rotors cryo-treated, but unless you know of a cryo facility nearby (and if you do, since you're from MD, I'd like to know ) it's just cheaper to buy them directly from FrozenRotors.
