Stalling during cold starts.
Stalling during cold starts.
Not sure what to make of it, started happening last week. I turn the car on, put it in reverse, and it stalls backing out of the driveway. I put the car back into park, starts just fine. The odd part is, it only stalls the first time, then starts just fine and runs strong all day. No SES lights and no codes. Any ideas at to what it could be?

. I took the car in to the dealer yesterday and of course after having the car for only a couple of hours, they werent able to replicate the problem. I hope you're right though, SES will actually help in this case since I have a warranty to 100k miles.
Anyone else? I heard a dirty fuel filter is a possibility as well, or perhaps bad gas? I did fill up right after the hurricane passed, not sure if something could have caused a problem with gas, but who knows. Odd part is, it stalls once, then it's fine for the rest of the day.

Cold engine, tps... fuel system. I've kept mine low on gas (at around the warning light) for a week or so and it started stalling and refusing to start. I took it to a few WOT runs and it's all fine now.
I know i am due for a spart plug job but doubt they could cause what you are experiencing.
Best guess would be when the engine is cold it's not compensating when you put it in gear and it stalls.

I have the exact same problem with my 2K1. EVERY TIME I start my car in the morning after it has been sitting all night if I put it in gear quickly it will hesitate and stall. This happens when my car has been sitting 8+ hours without being started, so I guess it is only on a cold engine. It has been happening to me for a few months now and I have put on at least 5K miles on it and have not seen any SES lights or anything. I have just learned to let it idle for a minute or so after starting it and it runs fine, no stalling. Just try letting it idle and watch the RPM's. I put it in gear after the RPM's usually drop down to close to 1000. Let me know what happens.

To clarify what I'm experiencing: I start the car, it starts right up, I shift her into reverse, again, everything is fine. I then shift into drive and the car will either hesitate as if it's going to stall, but then "recovers", or it just stalls. If it stalls, I simply turn it back on, and it drives as if nothing happened. Once I get beyond this, the car runs very strong, and shows no other symptoms until next cold start.
I took her back to the dealership today, told them not to touch it til this afternoon, or tomorrow, so hopefully they'll be able to see what I'm talking about. I'll post an update after I hear from the dealership.
Sounds VERY similar to me. I'd have it performed and see if it helps.
The lack of RPM during cold starts and when you shift into gear could cause it to stall.

Sounds like a MAF problem
I had exactly the same symptons and it was a bad MAF sensor. Had it replaced last week (ordered part from JR Nissan) and my car runs like new again. No hesitation at all. I would order one and either stick it in yourself or have someone install it for you. I had Nissan put mine in because I wanted to have the ECU reprogrammed properly.
I know this is an old thread, but I can't start a new one. Has anyone ever had the issue in NTB02-010 done to their car? And what did the dealership call it. I had a guy that used to be the service manager at the dealership do a idle relearn (he said that he had never heard of a ECM reprogram, just the idle relearn). That didn't seem to address the issue. I don't want to spend more money at the dealership if they are just going to do the same thing again. Thanks.
