High Rev on Start up...

High Rev on Start up...
When I start the car it always rev's to about 2K rpm and drops off to 750 at idle.
I'm not sure if this is something that's normal or a result of the headers and catback. Perhaps it's just that I can hear it more. My gas mileage has dropped off quite a bit to about 18mpg on mixed driving.
I don't think I want to jump into the whole SAFC II discussion again, but if it makes a difference, i'm interested.
Thanks for the help.

normal on both cars i drive, the maxima and a CR-V. the crv revs to 2k and starts decling as she warms up, when she gets under 1k, i go. the maxima revs to about 1500, and within 3-4 minutes drops to it's expected. i wouldn't be worried. that's perfeclty normal.

sound like my start up and idle are pretty normal but the drop in mileage may be a result of adding the headers and catback. I'm gonna guess from having read many of the posts on the SAFC II that I could improve perfomance and fuel economy.
