P1320 Dtc

can't search

Does anyone know what P1320 code means. On the code reader it said something like Manufacture control - Ignition or misfire...

Is this the trouble code for the coils? Could it just be a misfire? I like to know if I should bring the car into the dealer to have it worked on.aka warranty... I have a 2000.

Also since I'm here, I don't remember what code it was but I've gotten twice the code that means "bank 1 lean out condition" it was P017... something I think. What is that code?

P1320 is indicating a misfire which leads to bad coil(s). you would probably be better off replacing all 6 but you find the one misfiring by either the code or pulling each one and seeing which does not affect the engine. some have had their coils replaced under 60k powertrain warranty but others have been denied. if youve got extended warranty then its definetely worth a try, otherwise just buy them from jerryromenissan.com or call dave burnette @ 888-254-6060 for good prices on the coils.
the other code you were getting was probably 0171 but you should rescan to make sure. ive seen alot of people with that code replace the maf with no issues afterwards.

1320 specifically means bad coils, if you didn't get a p030* code... then might have to pick and choose as said above, otherwise, replace 'em all, go under the classifieds and look for "all six coils $235(-$260) shipped" thread, thats cheap!!!

I spoke to a dealer and as usual, if I bring the car in, they would have to charge a diagnostic fee just for looking at it. I'm wondering will they replace coils if the code is present? Or will they take a multimeter and check every one of them so see which is malfunctioning first...

The car drives fine right now. No driveability problems. If the coil(s) are bad or failing, would the code come up again if I reset the computer?

I originally thought about doing that, but not sure now. I really don't want to pay the diagnostic fee. I have the extended service contract with a $50 deductible which I'll be willing to pay.

hmm, what do you think? People who have replaced them at the dealer under warranty or denied...

I have the same car (2000 SE) and I pulled the same code about 3 weeks ago. Autozone reset my SES light, and it hasn't come back on. I was kinda wondering what the dealership would do, as well, since I have a 100,000 mile extended warranty. Also, I haven't had any driving problems.

WVMAX - when you get the problem again(and you will) go to the dealership and tell them the car stalls, has rough idle and severely reduced power, they will fix under warranty most likely if you put up a stink, saving you 400-900 dollars.

YOUNG1976 - go and check like they say w/ multi meter, find which one it is, and spend the 50 bucks from dave B. and the 10 minustes it takes to fix the one. If you have the money i suggest buying all 6 coils from the classifieds section of 5 gen forum for $260....Thats real cheap! and you save 40 bucks over Dave Burnette in texas

Autozone does diag for free, but then write down the codes and ask a dealer service tech, they'll tell ya if ya sound coherent

Here's what the problem was on my car when I got the same SES codes. Cost me no more that $100 to fix and the car runs like new again.

I would go one step further and replace the plugs ($9x6 = $55) and coil set ($55x6 = #325) in one shot (get them from DaveB, he is the best!!!) and not think about it for another 60K miles.

After that one may have to repeat the routine after 60K miles -- that is the price one pays for driving a 2K Max...

I have got the Ignition Coil issue, of course Nissan says all 6 needs to be replaced and it would cost $1000. I was able to get them alot cheaper. Is there a place I can go for the replacement procedure so I can do it myself. A picture of the location would help

Well, went to a dealer, Brown's in Fairfax VA. I would have to say the best NIssan dealer service I've ever seen so far. Don't go to Sheehe Nissan in Manassas, VA absolutely the worst in the Capitol area.

Anyways, told them I have the P1320 code and they checked it. Minutes after checking it they said, although the parts, 6 coils, are backordered. They will be replaced under the extended warrenty. COOL! They cleared the computer for now, but said if it comes back on again, don't worry about it. So within 20 minutes of leaving the dealer and about 10 miles, the light came back on, even quicker this time. 3 times in 3 days!

I would say if you have warranty that covers coils, bring it into the dealer and they'll scan and replace. I was told Nissan used to require them to check each coil with a multimeter and replace one at a time. Then it was one bank at a time. Now if the code comes up, to replace all. So I'll be getting new coils for only my deductible. $50 and I get a free car rental for the day when they work on the car.

powertrain DOESN'T cover coils, your OWNER'S MANUAL has a picture/procedure for removing NOT ONLY the plug but also the coil (since the coil is right over the plug) under spark plug replacement.

Otherwise it's right under the RED engine cover in the front bank, and between the intake plenem(UIM) arms in the rear bank. I think it's a 10 mm socket and I don't know the hex screw # for the Engine cover.

15 mins for the front three.

My situation was easier because I threw p302 and a p1320. Replaced ONE coil and have been fine for the past 1,000 miles!!!!

I have the Nissan Silver extended Warrenty for 100000 miles / 5 yrs. It covers coils.

Use a 4 mm allen wrench to remove the cover bolts in the front.

Young1976, I've pulled the same code, but the light hasn't come back on for a while. Anyway, I'm gonna take it in to the dealership to be looked at. I also have a 100,000 mile/5 year warranty, but it's not called Nissan Silver, it's called the Elite Plus Warranty (the highest I could get). Just wondering if you, or anybody, think the same service (replacing all coils) would be covered under that warranty. I would seem to think so, since it sounds like we have the same warranty. Thanks.

Trent

Mine was the silver, it's the next step down. Look at the booklet that came with the warranty, the extended warranty and it'll have details. I looked on mine and it listed coils under electrical. I wouldn't bring it in until the light comes on again. I brought it in after it came on twice and confirmed to be 1320 at Autozone. Good luck to you
