2000 Se Struts

I heard from a friend of mine who works at a NISSAN dealer that the 2000 SE struts can take a lowering kit of 1.5 in the front and 1.2 in the back is this true??

It all depends on road condition of where you live. If you are going to spend some money on lowering springs, upgrade your struts as well. Aftermarket struts will offer you much better ride.

They would be okay if you had 20k Jon.. but you have 80k+, so don't think your OEM struts are in immaculate shape. I know who you're talking about and I've ridden in his Maxima, and the car looks and rides perfectly fine.

However, your stock struts weren't designed to tolerate extra high spring rates and chances one will blow eventually, or a wheel bearing will go bad. And you'll end up replacing them sooner or later and paying twice for work. Not to mention that you won't gain all that much in handling compared to a drop with AM struts.

Wow, how much did all that set you back? For all I know, a lot of people on here go aftermarket if a stock strut goes bad since it's cheaper to upgrade than replace them with OEM. So you could have done that back when your car was getting fixed.

She's right, of course. Spend the extra $$ now for struts MADE for lowering springs, or double your effort later.....Take your OEM struts and stash them away for the day you sell the car, and want to part out your aftermarket stuff and go back to stock....

My 2KSE has been running stock strut and Eibach for 2 years, the strut is still working

fine. I check for leakage on strut every 2 month in case if they are blown.

i think you'd be better off with maxspeeds. The drop is about the same and they are cheaper. The ride will deteriorate but depends how much you drive. Like others say, might as well install new struts at the same time to sav you heartache.

reason y im going with Eibach is for the sole purpose that the springs are black. And if my father were ever to look i dont think he would tell the difference between stock nissan's and eibach. Also trying to find struts taht are good for eibach but black in color.

lol good point. Well, there is always spray paint. you can sand them, primer and use high temp engine enamel on the yellow maxspeeds. I was actually thinking of doing that lol and painting my struts

dude...when you drop the car, it IS noticeable. I know you probably think you're dad is ignorant to these things, but I bet he will notice the drop even without looking at springs...
