Is it one of those cheapo things? It doesn't do any good. Seriously. It does NOT do any good. I wouldn't doubt if the "extra gas" it's using was just an illusion on your part, or brought on by the fact that you were driving more aggressively after installing it than before.

Assuming this is what hooks into the Intake Air Temperature sensor, AFAIK the IAT is only used for diagnostic purposes... although I haven't researched the shop manual to verify this.

Chips that *do* work would include the S-AFC II, the SMT-6, and an ECU upgrade like the TechnoSquare But those aren't cheap!

I had Jet Perfromance reprogram my ECU. I believe it has given me more horsepower and torque, but have no dyno runs to back it up. It cost me about $350 and i do notice that my mileage has gone down a bit, but it may be because i am riding it a lot harder thatn before i got it reprogrammed. Biggest improvement i noticed was cold air intake and unorthodox racing under drive pulley.

What do you mean by "good results" exactly? HP & tq gains? More efficiency? I'm just trying to learn more about this stuff....

TECHNOSQUARE is the deal. It takes a couple of days, but it is worth it.

there is no ECU upgrade for 00-01 Maximas. Unless you yank the whole ECU out of the car, harness n all and run something like a MoTec M800 standalone or Electromotive. That costs BIG bucks and I wouldn't recomend it to anyone here unless their Maxima is a drag car or a ***** out trailer queen IT car. You can do the band aid piggy back, like the SMT-6, S-AFCII, eManage. Those can only do so much, in terms of fuel enrichment or timing controll. 02-03 can get the TechnoSquare ECU, 00-01s are always left out. I doubt the development is getting anywhere on it... its been like over a year now since they said they will do it... and never did. Kinda like JWT said they are working on cracking the ECU code on the 98-up SR powered cars, ehh its 04 now and 6 years later no ECUs still. *F* JWT.
