dumb question..
pardon my ignorance of rim-related issues, but I see alot of threads about spacers, etc. and was wondering - instead of using spacers (5mm front, 20mm rear), wouldn't it be possible to get the wheels even and farther out by buying rims with other-than-stock offset? Stock is 35mm, so how about getting a 30mm offset on front rims and 15mm offset on the rears - would this have the same effect as spacers? Or maybe i'm not understanding offset correctly....

Yar, I believe that would be the better option. Maybe people get the standard size because you can always sell them when they are that size. I believe we share the same size as the accord so that opens up your reselling options....
But to your question, I believe you are thinking in the right direction.

offset on the stock wheels are 45 anything lower then 35 for the front for some wheels would probably be a problem too. The fronts arent really the prob anyway. my wheels are 40 offset and wish the rears stuck out a little more...the front looks fine though.

Lower offset would be better than spacers for sure. For my 2k2 with 18x8 I'd like an offset of about 23 to 25 for the rear but I haven't seen any wheels that are made like that.
I currently have an offset of 38 and that's perfect for the front. And as mentioned, different front/rear offsets would not allow wheel rotation.

the other thing is that if you wanted a rim style and didnt have that offset, then your only options would be to look for another rim or just get spacers. I would just get spacers in the back so I could still keep the ability to rotate my tires.
