Is this TRUE?

I am in the middle of purchasing new Rotor's and Pads for my 03 SE and im told that I need to make sure that the compunds match. Is this true? I am currently thinking about Brembo Blanks and PBR Ultimate's. Although I was thinking about maybe getting the Brembo's and a pair of regular pads from the local Auto Zone. But since im told about this compund thing, im a little bit unsure of what to do. If this is true maybe somebody out there could tell me what pads will go with the Brembo Rotors.

Thanks,

Steve

I dont think they make brembo's for the 2k2+ yet. And no the compounds dont have to match.

There are Brembo rotors for 2k2+ now.

Compounds... What's there to match?

Rotors are made of iron, and pads are made of some kind of carbon-based material I think, with metal shavings inside for semi-metallic pads? I think Axxis/PBR Ultimates also have Kevlar in there if I'm not mistaken.

I am planning on using the Brembo blanks with Ceramic pads. Somebody told me to ask the people at Brembo what material of pads they they prefer (Organic, Semi-Metallic, or Ceramic), unfortunetly Brembo is in Italy and probably wont get an answer in english. Hoping someone knows.

friend of mine has a Civic and got Brembo rotors and performance pads from Nopi. after 6k miles his rotors were warped and had lines like. Shop told him that pads were too strong for the rotors.

Using the matched pads along with the new rotors will help your brakes last longer and wear more evenly.

Use OEM pads...they are ceramics. They are quiet and performed pretty good.

According to the newest Brembo catalog available on their website, it states "NYA" Which means, "Not Yet Available" for the front rotors for the 2k2 and 2k3 Maxima.

Again, Brembo does not make front rotors for the 2k2-2k3 models.

Well to be honest with you the Brembo site is junk, who knows the last time they updated it. Import Racing says they have them. And as a matter a fact the performance store down the street from me has them too.

I contacted:
Jessica
Performance Parts Store
A Division of NCMS
800.246.4567 x222

She informed me that Brembo doesn't rotors for the 2k2-2k3 model years. Many people on here have touted Brembo Blanks, but in every instance thus far, they turned out to be a cheaper alternative to Brembo's.

Jessica said that here new updated catalogs should be in within the week. Who knows, they could have just released them. What I found before buying my PowerSlots is that many people were advertising Brembo's, but when talking with them I found they were selling blanks claiming to be the same as Brembo's. Jessica said that many of the rotor makers are using Chinese iron which is inferior to U.S. Iron. PowerSlot and Brembo use a good grade of iron which helps at preventing warped rotors. Others here have purchased cheaper rotors and been happy with them. I really hope Brembo has come out with the fronts for our cars. I would be happy to eat my words and stick my tail between my legs

The funny thing is the PowerSlots for 2k2's are using rotors made by Centric - same brand that a lot of cars use as OEM's.

Found this out when i got my own set of PS.

lol "Chinese" iron vs. U.S. "iron" ... at least she didn't say it was Chinese steel vs. U.S. steel

The metal matrix pads on the Stillen website...BUT, those are for my year car...not the '02...sorry. I'm sure a set of OEM pads or a good aftermarket set would be sufficient.

so officially there are no 2k2 brembo rotors out for 2k2-2k3 maxima? cause i need a pair of rotors for a 2k2 max and want brembo cross drilled rotors. also the ones on ebay are fake then? any way you could tell which are real brembo and which are not?

On the back, yes. Front's - the 02/3 have larger rotors than the 00/01. You can downgrade in size but i'm not sure if the calipers will work.

yeah but the 2k2 rotors on the back are lighter than the 2k and 4th gen rotors.
TEK-NIQ? how is the quality on them and how much of a improvement are they over stock? do they warp as easily as stock 2k2-2k3 rotors? and brembo actually makes them right? i just dont want a replica or worse.
