Gas Mileage??

I was just wondering what are the list of things that would cause me to have decreased gas mileage. My gas mileage has gone down to 24.5mpg (on the trip computer) and I can't seem to get it up passed that ever since I had my front brake pads/rotors and tires replaced. I had it up to 26-27mpg on the the highway before this was done but now it doesn't go past 24.5 . I got the car at 75,000 miles and it has 82,000 on it now. I am prob going to get a spark plug and oil change done soon but its weird that right after the brake/tire change thing this happened.

thanks

P.S. i also had a bearing issue and thought it might be that but after i got that fixed i still can't bring my gas mileage up.

colder weather too. takes longer for car to warm up, get worse mileage during that time. I get crap for mileage all winter here in CT (course the driving style doesnt help)

The trip computer is so far off reality in most cases...just do the old manual way and divide number of gallons filled into miles driven.

however, the computer is consistantly off. mine is always 3-4 above real mpg. 90% of the time it's 3 over

This is just a guess, but it may be that your new tires are heavier. What kind did you have and what did you switch too? Also, it doesn't take much change in tire diameter to throw off your calculation.
Just a thought.

There are many reasons... fuel filter... under-inflated tires... use of a/c... I dunno... I'm sure these other guys will give ya better advice.. haha...

Well tires I switched from HTR+ to Toyo Proxes 4, same size and everything. I know the trip computer is off but I figured its consistantly off and that if I got it up to 27mpg on the highway I should be able to do it now. Also this gas mileage thing started in mid august so its no cold weather. I am do for an oil change but this has been like this like I said since august so thats not it. Thanks for all your posts I'm sure its nothing big either the tires are heavier or I need a tune up. In reality i get about 20mpg now.

Check tire pressure. Cold weather affects pressure and tire guys sometimes don't put in right amount... you would think they were inept.

I had dealer do a fuel induction service (app $120) which included cleaning the throttle body. This improved the performance of my Max and improved fuel mileage slightly. Some people are using BG44K ( I think this is correct) to clean fuel system. Just a thought ...

I just had my ECU re-programmed and suddenly on my last 350 mile road trip (hwy/city driving mixed) I averaged 27mpg. Before the ECU reprogram I was getting about 23mpg.

Not sure what they did, but I like it
