anybody reinforce the carboard cover over the spare tire yet? mine is almost completley collapsed. I trying to get an idea of waht to do to replace that thing with to make it stronger.

 

go to home depot. and buy the lightest-toughest wood. thats what i did

 

did u trace the piece thats in there or did u just cut out a piece for the whole entire trunk?

 

how about having a full size spare? I need to get one of those, considering I have 18's

 

I went to a lumber yard,,,cause I was at work when I got maotivated and there is one right around the corner, but Homo depot or Lowes should have the stuff.

I bought 1/4 inch MASONITE, pulled the trunk POS support and traced it, then I had the facilities guy cut it out for me.
I used liquid nails and gluded the original to the one I traced and cut out.
I did this because I did not feel like transfering all the sponge pieces anr re-riveting the hard plastic suppots to the new piece. Plus it addes extra thickness. I ahve had this in place for about a year now and NO sags

 

good idea, but how heavy is the masonite?

i recently got 2 12" put in my trunk n my trunk was sagging from the begining...went to home depot got 1" thinch 2x2...cover the wheel well fine and supports my 60lb box

 

Stop carrying bodies in your trunk.

 

DANG! 1" !!!! you only really need 1/4 borad, im holding more than 60 lbs and no sags at all for about 8 months now.

 

Same here, i think i have 1/4" board from Home Depot. Traced out the old POS and transfered the sponge and plastic thing. I've had it for about 6 months and no sag. I've stood on it to be funny and no sag.

 

I just covered mine in Carbon Fiber.

 

1/4" plywood. dimensions 41x23 IIRC.
