Converting of the interior

I have a 2000 GXE and would like to convert my interior to leather w/heated front seats. I suppose that interior swap from SE/GLE is the cheapest alternative, but as far as the heated seats go, are our cars prewired, where to get the switch and where to mount it...What's the reasonable cost to get everything done? How much does the OEM leather interiors go for?

Expect around $500 depending on condition.

The OEM leather isn't that great IMHO. I'm talking about the quality of leather... it looks nice and is decent, but isn't the softest around.

I personally think you'll have a hard time trying to find an entire interior from a donor car in decent enough condition that you'd actually want it.

You might want to go the route of an aftermarket leather interior like the one from Katzkin .

You can pick any color and they can even do a two-tone setup which looks pretty sweet. They also offer seat heaters as part of the package ($150/seat) and I think it heats the seat back as well as the bottom cushion (Maxima's heated seats only warm up the bottom cushion).

The covers don't just slip over your existing seats, you need to remove your fabric covers and replace them with leather - looks like a factory finish. They also provide matching inserts for your door panels to complete the look.

mounting for the switches go behind the e-brake.
I have a gxe on black leather.
Got skins for 400. Looks quite nice but was a lot of work..
I skipped the heated seats as I feel that it is waiste of time.

did you find a donor car or got an aftermarket leather? Did you change the seats or just the covers?

If you are not in a hurry, yo umay want to watch ebay. I saw a set of tan leather/heated seats for a 2k2 sell for $306.00. The only problem was the shipping the guy wanted to charge was $200.00.

exactly, the shipping would just kill it. I am more leaning towards the OEM interior swap from another Max in my area. Just got to find one now.

I'm doing the same with my 03' SE. I'm going with katzkin for my leather interior, 2 way seat heaters from Duetto Motors and I'm ordering the OEM heater switches from Courtesy Nissan.

that is a very pricey route you're taking. Wouldnt you be better off buying a car w/factory leather?

I already have my car. It's pricey but it's not over the top. Besides, aftermarket leather is better quality. The Duetto seat heaters use 2 pads instead of one...one for your back and the other for the seat. I was originally going to get I30 front and rear seats from the junk yard but my interior is grey so they may be hard to find.

Seat Heaters $300
OEM Heater Switches $80 (I like the OEM look of the switches)
Perforated Leather approx $700
Installation approx $400 (if you decide no to do it yourself)

I disagree that aftermarket leather is of better quality than OEM. There's nothing better than look, otherwise there's no reliable data on durability. Besides. most OEM leather shows wear after 10 yrs, but who keeps the car 10 yrs anyway...My car is worth like 10 grand, and there 's absolutely no fin. justification in spending 1 grand on leather seats.

You have a point but also remember that every values their cars differently. IMO...it's worth it. The options you get with aftermarket, you can't get with OEM such as perforation, piping, addition colors, etc. My car is my hobby and I like modding it to my specs but I can repesect your opinion.

I would have to agree $1500 to upgrade the interior is more than I would be willing to pay. I would be patient and search ebay for infiniti or maxima leather as the search and see what you can find. If you have $1500 to spend then be my guest.

Just my 2 cents.

factory heated seats have heat on the lower back area too. you'll really feel it if you put it on high.

That auction ended yesterday.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Someone got a good deal, but I just spent $300 on shocks, so I will wait for the next auction.

I dont think $300 is still such a good deal from EBAY because it will cost at least 200 to ship all that

Still - $500 for a ready to bolt in leather interior including heated seats is VERY reasonable. Someone got a great deal.....

I think it was a GREAT deal also! If I only had the $500+ available. I should have just put it on the CC. I saw another auction that included the seats and the door panels, but that auction got to about $650 (not including shipping) with one day left (I stopped watching it).
