2002 Maxima CD Problems

Hello. I just joined up here. Bought a 2002 Maxima a few weeks ago. Lose sound on left side intermittantly only while CD is playing. Getting worse. Doesnt happen while playing radio. It is not in warranty. Any recommendations? Worth getting fixed or aftermarket? Isn't Bose proprietary? Can you add aftermarket head/cd and still use the bose amplified speakers or completely have to gut and get all new stuff?

thanks

Welcome to the .Org...

Same thing has happened to me and I've replaced the head unit once under warranty already. This is very common among 02 owners... there are some threads in the Audio and Electronics forum (http://forums.maxima.org/forumdisplay.php?f=25) discussing this if ya don't get enough feedback here... most people will tell ya to go aftermarket.. but for more details on that, I'm not the one to ask... good luck with everything....

I had the same problem, but it was under warranty at the time so i just replaced it. I kinda like my bulky lookin' OEM cd player. Only aftermarket cd player i would get is..

CLARION DOUBLE DIN PLAYER (ADB340MP)

I also sell these as well. I just like the way it looks, blang blang... also plays plays CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs too

** but if its under warranty, just get that for now.

I had the same problem, but fixed under warranty. If i had to pay, i'd def go w/ something aftermarket.

I'm not a pro on stereos at all, but if swap out the head unit, you can keep your stock speakers, right? It won't mess them up b/c it's not a bose head?
I hear that you actually get better sound w/ most good AM headsa s well.

Are those 2 a perfect fit as well?

That Clarion looks pretty sweet... but what are the security options on that thing? The last thing I need is for someone to jack my car for my stereo AND HIDs...

lhercules- you need to get the kit, think it goes for 30bucks i'll check later on tonight when i get the chance.

aliti19 - those two are perfect fit (double din) which 02s have

zajoba- sweet i carry that also but it's $320 shipped.

Puppetmaster- honestly if they really want your stereo, they are going to get it no matter what

I know... been through it before with my old car...

So you're saying there's a kit we could get to hook the Clarion up to the steering wheel controls?

YES YOU WOULD NEED A SWIX STEERING WHEEL CONVERTER. and also the stereo has to have a remote to program it.. Works with virtually all aftermarket radios with wireless infrared remote capability

The left speaker problem is a known issue with Nissan. There was a TSB issued for it on the 5th gen Maxima with the Bose system.

Check out the TSB here: http://www.infinitihelp.com/Ownershi.../NTB03-017.htm
