I am going to put 19" wheels on my car next Saturday. I was wondering how much of a difference changing my stock GXE springs to the Eibach lowered springs will change the ride quality of my Max? Also is there an aftermarket spring other than Eibach that is not as stiff?

probally a lot, even tho i dont have them, the SE are firmer then the GXE and u kan feel it, and just imagine if eibachs are firmer then the SE.. so you'll definitly feel it.

Try H&R's if you don't want a ride as stiff as Eibachs.

dude, you might want to throw in a set of shocks just in case you have seasick! To spice things up and bring out the flavor of the 19" rims and formance shocks + springs, you might want to add rsb and fstb.

Thank you for the info. I will probably buy the H&R springs. What's the best brand of shock for a lowered Max?

P.S. I have a Stillen rsb and love it with my 16"x 7" TSW-VX1 wheels. I Know it will kick with the lower profile tires and springs. The shocks will be the next mod.

ok man, just a suggestion. I really don't think 19" wheels will be a big improvement over your current 16". Plus 19" will be ALOT heavier which will create unsprung mass. The SE 17" is about 5lb heavier than the 16" stock rims. Now, imagine how much heavier 19" would be compared to teh 16". If you are really going for the 19" go with a lighter wheel for better performance.

The most important part of handling improvement is not always the profile of the tire, but the brand and air pressure of the tire.

As for the shocks, go with Tokico because they are externally adjustable for comfort vs performance.

In the import tuner mag the SSR GT1 18"x 7.5" wheel only weighs 17.5 lbs. Is this wheel heavier than the stock SE 17" wheels?

I experimented with the Koni's because the set belonged to Jane.

Y2KevSE, You have Eibach's on your Max, how do you feel about the ride. I think think the Eibach's would give me a better look. The Ebach's 1.3" front and 1.0" drop in the back. The H&R's have a 1.4" front and 1.3" drop in rear. It seems that the H&R srings would leave the ugly front/rear gap space almost the same.

The ride is bumpy with Eibachs and stock struts. Handling is very nice, but if you can stand the stiffness then this is the spring to get. I thought the H&R's give a lower drop than that?

Is the ride less bumpy with Tokico's and Eibachs, rather than Stock Struts with Eibachs?

I have Koni + Eibach + RSB + tower brace on my Legend....

It feels like the car is gonna fall apart when hitting the broken roads at speed above 30mph.

Is this what's happening in with you guys' maximas if you have stiff struts and springs installed?

BTW, Kev, how did the 4th gen koni fit on the 5th gen Maxima? I think the 4th gen is slightly lighter than the 5th gen...

I remember you saying yourself that they fit. So do they?

Here's what you said:

Yes it does, expect some height different

and in another post:

Installing the 4th gen struts on 5th gen of course will work! Since the car was about the same weigth and the diameter of the struts are the same, the only thing that could be different is of course the height. I think it will be a little shorter..... I am not sure how short it will become, but it will work. The damping rates should be similar that make the shocks works on 5th gen.....

Sure, they should fit!

Let say that they fit, which I think they are suppose to. Did it cause any problems in height differences? How does it function?

My question isn't just if they fit or not, but how well it worked on your car!
