what about those Xenon bulbs that CustomMaxima sells? $15 a pair.
what's a good and reasonably priced upgrade? i don't really care if the light is yellowing or bluing, as long as they are brighter than stocks...

If you don't care about the yellowing then get the SILVERSTARS. They happen to be on sale at PEPBOYS this week, at least in Atlanta, for $29.99 per twin pack. I for one want all my bulbs to be like my HIDs-nice and bright white with a hint of blue!

The Sylvania SilverStars have the same light output as their XtraVision series. The SilverStars have a different color temperature, so they appear 'white' where the XtraVision looks more yellow. However, the SilverStars do not last as long as XtraVision.
A while back, Wal-Mart was discounting twin-packs of SilverStars for $20.00, and they were red-tagged, so I believe they will no longer be carrying them.
Strangely enough, the Sylvania Osram SilverStars sold in Canada and Europe are even better than the U.S. version. Two different types of SilverStars from the same company, but as it happens many times, the U.S. market gets shafted. Oh well.
$45? Not worth it. When the pair I have burn out, I'll go with the XtraVision. Same brightness, longer life, and you can get a pair for $18 at Wal-Mart.
Peace.

Edit:I think the best bluish tinted bright halogen replacements are Power2Night GT150s. They claim to produce 50% more light like Phillips VisionPlus and Osram Silverstars but with a blue tint.

If you guys want. I bought the silverstars...I'll try to get a picture of them and post it so you can see a comparison...Only thing is I don't know another 2k Max owner to compare side by side. I had a 90 Prelude before with the sealed beam cool blues...Those had a big difference, but thats a 90 were the stock lighting was never all that great to begin with.
Anyways I"ll try to post a pic..I need some night pics of my car anyways.
