Startup grind

Startup grind
Hey guys - fixed some of my issues with my 2k2 that I just bought, but still have a few others.
It seems that sometimes when I start the engine, I hear a "grinding" noise, like it starts, and a split second later makes the noise and then continues on like normal. Performance is not affected, but it sure doesn't sound good.
Should I worry about this?
Also, my Bose CD player seems to have a mind of its own - the volume goes up and down by itself every couple of minutes or so. Not to extreme amounts, but you can tell. Anybody ever here of this?

There is a TSB on that
It is a timing chaing guide or something like that that needs to be replaced with an updated model. No harm if not replaced, just noise.
The procedure is pretty involved, so if you trust that your dealer can put your engine back together same way as at the factory - go ahead, if not, don't do it.

Is this something that will cause a lot of damage in the long run? It sounds pretty bad though so I'm worried that while it may not hurt in the short term, what about the long term?

As for your radio, the BOSE system has a feature that lowers or raises the volume based on, I believe, the RPMs. If you go through the menus it will be the last option on there. It's called SVC I think. It has 4 levels -- off, low, medium, and high. The higher the setting the more it will raise the volume.
