painting the engine cover

My max is in the shop because someone thought the hood looked like a good place to park his flatbed truck. Since the rest of it is getting painted, I was goning to throw in a few extra bucks to get the engine cover painted too. Any try this yet? Does the engine head peal or fade the paint? Will the paint take the heat w/out catching on fire? I think it'll make the engine bay really stand out once I add more red grounding wires and tweek a few other things (including subtle lighting of the bay).

If I can get it done, I'll post pics for opinions.

I agree. I look for things that will be a bit different. IIRC there have been a some guys who have painted the engine cover with good results. For sure post pics of the finished cover.

That said, I went for the 'removal' look. There's a lot of stuff that can be polished/detailed etc. under there......

Yours looks good w/ the black exterior. Mine's Merlot, so the block looks bare w/out the cover. I think it'll come out a little like a japanese Fose. Hopefully it won't be too ricey or else I'll be going to the junk yard for a new cover!
