Spark Plug Replacement, Mucho Dinero?

I went to get some work done at pep boys the other day and maybe a spark plug change. I asked about it and they said it cost $28 for each plug + 200 in labor cause they would have to take the manifold off, etc. So total about $450!!!!! Is this true?

Thanks

Plugs are like $6-$8 each at the dealer but I do recall there is a more complex procedure on the 3.5s....

I don't think the plugs would as cheap as $6-8 at dealers. The cheapest OEM double platinum I can find even at online store are $10 each before tax. 5 gens are not suppose to run on cheap plugs.

OMG, how bad are they trying to rape you?

$700 is waay too much. $48 for 6 plugs if their $8 each, I dont know how elaborat it is to change them on a 5th gen but damn it cant be worth $700!

wow, the service departments much be hurting more now a days since more and more people are doing the work themselves.

That's for the 3.0, 3.5 is a little more involved......

alot of people including myself run NGK coppers. they cost a 1.69 and burn hotter than platniums do. downside is they have a shorter life but i replace my plugs once a year (15k miles) so thats not really an issue. not sure if they have released a copper for the 02/03 yet.

Hayden you know you like the platinum, they match your front teeth

As far as the 3.5, you have to yank the upper intake manifold to access the rear bank of plugs. Shouldn't take more than 30-45 miuntes to do the entire 3.5's 6 spark plugs
