i think the dealer tryed to kick my....

went in to nissan , he told me my axel boots are torn and i need new ones. How can that be at only 15k on the clock? i tell him ok is it under warrenty, he says NO becasue the car is lowered and the springs and struts made the axel boots rip. he said the axel boots are $110 plus 2 hour labor est $170 meaning i gatta pay $280 for new axel boots installed ??? Does this in any way sound right, i dont know but it sounds like Shi* to me .

go to a different dealer. What made you go to the dealer? Did you hear something?

That dealer exemplifies the fact that people hate dealers. That price is totally overrated for them just installing the boots and not the actual u-joint. Mine is lowered and both boots are in perfect condition with 55k miles on it. Not all the miles have been "lowered" miles.

Because once that boot is torn there is a good chance dirt has gotten caught in that axel greas and this can lead to axels going bad. Usually a torn boot is a primary sign of a bad axel anyways

People don't realize it's alot more work to replace that boot than it is to just replace the entire axle. I wonder how things would turn out if more people sued the dealers over this nonsense. A lowered car has LESS of a delection angle on the CV than the stock ride height. If anything it probably made the boot last a little longer.

Now that I could see. Did you hit the boot with the bottom of the strut or something. I have to admit, it seems sort of fishy that you tore both boots in less than 15K.

explain to him what the moss-ferguson law is. the dealer will have to perform the warranty work unless the warranty explicitly states that the warranty is void if the suspension is altered

just install them axles yourself.

take out the suspension assembly and then the driver side there is 3 bolts. then the passenger side you just pull out.

simple.

I agree with a few people above, replace the entire axel. It is 1) easier and 2) just a few dollars more 3) will last longer than a boot change do to contamination.

Which dealer(s) did you take your car to in NY? Jeff @ maximum tuning is a good guy to deal with, so you're in good hands..

That funny because I've read my conflicting stories about Koeppel's service practices. There was an individual here whom had praise for them, but many bash on their service. If you want to stick to going to a dealer, check out biener nissan over in great neck, LI. Me personally, i'd take my car to Jeff @ maximum tuning...
