I ran out of gas and now my car shakes, service engine light is on as well.
I think it sucked some dirt in to a fuel filter. How can I resolve this, can i use any liquids to clean it?

you can try fuel system cleaner but i have a feeling that its the coils. get the code pulled by autozone for free if you have one close by. i would bet the shaking is coming from P1320 code. post up the code so it can be described and figure exactly what it is.

Sometimes the shaking goes away if iam standing in traffic and it runs smooth maybe for 10 - 15 miles, then it starts again. Would this mean anything. What are the coils and where are they - how much to replace them. Can i do it on my own? Oh yeah once the car stops shaking service engine light shuts off. Thx for help!!!

coils are located on the sides of both banks of the motor. if you remove the red valve cover you will see 3 and the other 3 are just on the other side. if youve got a good amount of miles, you should go ahead and do the plugs as well. ive seen all 6 coils go for around 300 at some online dealers like jerryromenissan.com. use discount code MAXIMA for an extra 12% off. they are easy to replace but i wouldnt pick this as a first time job. its really a matter of unplugging the connector and plugging in the new one. the plugs would take a little bit longer but theres no need in having to do almost the same job twice. here is a link for the plug replacement so you can see the coils. http://www.sprintmax.com/tails/sparkplug.htm the writeup is for a 95-99 but it is almost an identical procedure.
