Hotshot header owners step inside

I am interested in making this one of my last mods. I have a few questions.

1) At cruising speeds are these headers loud enough to get annoying?. Annoying to me would be being able to hear it over my music or lets say hearing a constant humming in the cabin... Currently I do have an aftermarket exhaust (quiet setup) that I can only notice when I get on the gas. On the highway I can't hear my exhaust currently...

2) I know there are problem with fitment but how bad are the problems ? Are they able to be ironed out with a little hard work?

3) I have an intake and full exhaust and neither quite made the car very noticabley faster, will these really stand out?

I've got them. The install was so bad that the shop that did it said they wouldnt do another from hotshot, but other than that I love them. I have the Frankencar catback and the car is quite, my Injen intake is the loudest of the set up. I did feel a big diffrence in power after the install.

1) How loud they are will depend on you exhaust setup and also whether or not you run a cat. Mine is pretty quiet but i run a stock muffler

2) I have the first production run of headers...fitment wasnot an issue for me

3) You will notice a difference.

I have a resonator and Cat with a NON wide open muffler... Can you run 14s with any kind of consistancy with the headers, or was it just a one or 2 time thing?

Do yourself a huge favor...get the Cattman headers. The dyno performance increase is incredible and the install is much, much easier.

so you are saying the Cattman headers have better dyno numbers? I don't believe I have ever seen that data.

With the headers my times improved dramatically. Autos are very consistent, I ran 14.0X about 8 times last weekend at the track.

The difference in performance between the cattman headers and the hotshot headers should be pretty nominal. You just have to make a choice as to whether the extra $300 is worth it for the easier install. The fitment issue was supposedly fixed recently... has anyone recently got a set of hotshot headers and can relate teh install to us? Initially HS seemed to be in denial mode with the fitment issue.

I've been running HS headers with the Greddy Evo Catback. Alone the Greddy sounded great, actually pretty quiet. With the headers it got considerably louder. When I don't have an exhaust leak (which I seem to develop often, between the header primaries and y pipe) I still think it sounds pretty good for local driving. It's kind of loud for extended highway driving. I'm going to give the Cattman Catback a try.

I have one of the first 5 sold and fitment was ok. My install was done by Jeff at Maximum Tuning, who had some minor problems but was able to install them with out any cutting or welding. (My opinion it those that went that route had an installer that may have not been the best)

Yes you will notice a nice power increase with these. These are by far the best N/A bolt on power adder for our cars at this time.

When sr20den's secret sauce IM becomes available, that may not be true anymore. Maybe for the price... but there are plenty of other bolt on power adders that will give some serious gains.

It's not a night and day difference (headers) yet it's definatly an improvement.
I recommend them with all the other standard bolt ons (intake and exhaust) it's real nice.

Well...

I didn't wanna risk the typical maxima.org flaming assault..
Yet i had engine internals in mind ; )
http://www.z1auto.com/submodel.asp?m...50z&cat=engine

stuff on that page, minus the turbo stuff which isn't fabricated for us.

You know what i mean : ]

Internals are not bolt ons. Just for the record.

Ah yes.. internals... thanks for the link... not that I know enough to be looking at any of that yet... nor do I print currency to be able to afford all that... I think we're on different levels here...

Maybe one day.... but for now, I'm just gonna stick with my intake/y-pipe/cat-back and maybe, headers and UDP, dream....

Btw, I didn't mean to set ya up for flaming or anything, I really did wanna know what other "bolt-ons" had header-like gains.... apparently internals aren't that simple "bolting on"...

I don't know... I think bolt on is loosely defined.

Everything on that page has to be attached somehow : ]
Usually bolts ; )

On our cars, headers aren't exactly a simple "bolt on".

Also, no one mentioned nitrous... Or a supercharger kit for (for non 5.5 gens).

I suppose bolt on : { intake, exhaust, headers, udp}
exclusively?

I agree... I think we're just missing the word "simple" from "bolt ons" when we talk about an intake, cat-back, y-pipe, udp.... but then again... its all relative...
