I just bought a bunch of stuff from the dealer. One item being new plugs for my 2k1. I didn't think anything of it at the time but when I got home I looked at the part number of the plugs PFR6G-11, also I looked at the old box that I had from when I replaced the plugs at 50k and it also was the PFR6G-11.

I went to the FAQs and another nissan parts web site and it said PFR5G-11. What's the difference? Was it bad to have used these plugs for 50k. Sould I return then new ones for the PFR5G-11? Is the 6 a colder/hotter type plug?

they gave you a step colder plug which can rob power and is not necessary if you are not boosted or spraying. return them for the PFR5G-11 if you want the plats in stock heat range.

 

Ok thanks guys for the input. I spoke to the parts guy and he says that's all they carry. He says that's what they use. Anyways I think I gonna return them. I wonder if I will see some hp increase since I've been using since 50k. So colder isn't any benefit for stock engine, huh.

 

worn plugs can cause power loss or misfires if they get bad but colder plugs can be just as bad if not worse. i would stick with the stock heat range.
