any 5th gen running 225/55/17 tires with drop?
I'm just wondering because I need snow tires but the ones I want don't come in stock size, only in 225/55/17 and 225/45/17....would prefer the larger sidewall for the winter. Would there be any rubbing issues or anything?

ME!! I have the 2004 maxima SL wheels---they are 17's wrapped in the stock 225/55/17 tires. I have H&R springs with Tokico blues. There ARE rubbing issues. Small rub when backing up and the steering wheel turned all the way to one side. Small rub with a total of 3 people in the car and going over medium sized bumps. No rub with 3 people in the car over small bumps. Small rub with more than one person in the car driving over big bumps. When I'm by myself it will rub a little when I go over railroad tracks but maybe only 1 out of 4 times. Otherwise it's a great ride. Is rubbing extremely bad for anything on the car or tires? Is there anything we could do about it to prevent rubbing.
Thanks and good luck!

hmmm...thanks for the response. I'm running maxspeeds so I'm about the same height as you....but I'll be using the winters for ski trips into the mountains loaded with people and gear, so I'm sure I'd have rubbing issues too. Dammit. And no, rubbing is not a good thing....

didnt run 225/55 but i did run 235/50 on maxspeeds with no issues. my old tire size is still smaller than the one you are thinking about going to but i never had any issues with rubbing with four people and ski gear in the trunk going to snowshoe.

well I have the 512's on right now in 235's....I had 225 512's last winter which were DECENT but I'm the kind of person that likes to drive into the mountains to ski DURING any big-*** snowstorm (I once drove my Accord coupe into a storm that dumped 14" on the roads in less than 6 hours....we were the only non 4x4 in the ski resort parking lot).....so I'm trying to get some dedicated snows this season....
