ebay mufflers, any good?
Anyone installed one of those ~$50 ebay mufflers?

they look pretty similar.
just wondering if there is a point spending five-six time more than this for a brand name muffler?
BTW, where to get that pipe that is a part of 2000 muffler assembly and does not come with most aftermarket mufflers?

the point is that my stock muffler assembly finally rotten away at the junction point with the rear exaust tube assembly, and needs to be replaced.
Since I don't feel comfortable paying $275 for stock replacement (dealer price) for what is essentialy a silencer, i'd rather spend as less as possible for an adequate replacement.
I don't care much for looks, sounds, horsepower. All I need is a cheap replacement that will not go rotten on me for at least five years, and will let the car pass yearly inspections.

By the looks of the mufflers, theyre going to sound horrible. You may not care how it sounds, but after driving with it for a while you'll regret your decision. But then again if you have $50 to spend, then why not. Try it out. Its a better deal than replacing the stock muffler, and if it doesn't work out, you'll lose $50 and can always keep looking for a used stock one.
Actually, I'm also in the same situation as you but I decided to go for the performance mods. I figured why just replace the muffler...I'd rather spend a little more and go for a functional cat-back that looks good and sounds good and adds a few horsepower. That's another alternative. If your interested, check out Cattman and Frankencar.
DTm tips, especially square ones, will not flow with the body. There are some mufflers i have seen on ebay that look like the powertech mufflers. Actually, Powertech would be a pretty good option since a lot of 5th genners run that muffler. I think the p1011. It runs for about $100.

None of those are an adequate replacement.
