2K1 - HID's on Fog Lamps Headache

To change my fog bulbs, I must remove my entire Stillen front lip to access the bottom cover for replacement. This became a real headache after a few months so I decided to convert from halogen bulbs to HID's using the same size H3 bulbs. After installing the HID's, I noticed that the bulb would not ignite and was making an arcing sound as if touching metal. I realized afterwards that the tip of the HID bulb was touching the deflector inside the lamp causing a short and not allowing bulb to ignite. Has anyone had any success installing HID's on their 2k or 2k1 Max? -If so, what size bulbs and procedure did you use for completing this task?

Thanks in advance,
Titot

Several have done HID's here on the ORG, including me. There are lots of kits on the market. I have the Bohmen kit and everything fit without adjustment. I've heard some say they have to bend the reflector inside the housing for the HID capsule to fit properly. I'm wondering though how much that will affect your beam pattern? You can go to my home page and look at the install pics and finished product pics. So what kit are you using now?

I'm using Phillips ballast and ignitors for the fogs with H3 bulbs purchased seperate on the net. I tried pushing the deflectors inwards as others mentioned on forum, but I'm still having same problem. Maybe I can purchase diffrent bulbs that will fit without having to move those deflectors upwards so much. Does Bohman sell only H3 bulbs? If so, please provide me with link.

Thanks again.

I have the Bohmen kit, but they don't sell just the bulbs. THe kit was purchased at www.proxenon.com I did just purchase new H3 6000K from this place:

http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/ho...ec_name=Helios

They are Helios capsules and are as good a quality as the Bohmen ones, but cost less.

I had to push my reflector back. I get high beamed left and right. Probably because I raised my fogs quite a bit. I can see every little thing on the road though

Are the bulbs you purchased blue or violet in color? I would like to purchase pure white bulbs to match my headlamps if possible. Also, did you have to push the deflector inwads on your fog lamps for a good fit during installation?

Thanks for quick response.

You just take a flat head screwdriver and push in the reflector a bit. Don't push it too hard though
