Installed CAI, WTF is this hose?

The circled hose, what is it suppposed to do? I could not find any spot on the stock airbox where it went, so does it just sit there? It looks like the other end goes into the transaxle. Can anyone go take a look and see if its plugged into anything.

On a side note, the car is not shifting out of park, even with the brake applied & using the shift interlock button. It has done this before, but its strange that it would do it right after I unplugged the battery (to install cai). Has anyone else experienced difficulty shifting out of park randomly?

14.9 what conditions. I had that happen in a buick that I had I found that to be odd i started it up and it wouldnt shift. i got parinoid and in the process of calling people to help me i tried to start it and every thing worked fine. my brother told me that it was a system spike kinda like a surge protector for yout car and it resets it self (at least thats how it was for my buick)

Yup, breather hose for the tranny. It doesn't connect to anytrhing. It was there before you installed your CAI.

The hose is a vent, dosn't go to anything. For your shift problem , check the clearance of the air cleaner next to your shift linkage, it may be rubbing against air cleaner. You should be able to adjust intake and filter to clear.

Thanks for the help guys, I was 90% sure it was just a breather hose, but I wanted to make sure. I will check on the clearance with the shift linkage, as I didnt know there was a cable over there for it. Can anyone show me in that pic where it is, or a diagram or something?

I put on an ebay cai, to be honest. The auction listed it as 02/03, but it looks like its an 00/01 style, which has 2 extra vents in the upper piece that connects to the TB. Right now I just have the extra holes plugged to themselves, so it works fine, but I'll probably get a different one so its 100% correct. Fitment was pretty snug, but not bad. I have the filter right behind the plastic shield on the drivers side, so its away from the engine. It sounds like stock until ~3krpm, between 3k-5k it has a nice burble under medium throttle & a throaty hum at WOT, from 5k-6k it gets even louder, and above 6k it gets a little raspy. Since mines an auto I'm rarely above 6k, so its only raspy for a millisecond. I plan on dyno'ing this winter, to see if I gained any hp. It seems to rev up quicker, but I cant notice any discernable hp increase. I tried to go to the track today, but it was closed due to wind. I may try for the last open weekend next week, but I doubt it.

Looks like the Injen knockoff. Now get ready for the arguments about calling it a CAI.....

I also just installed my Injen today. I feel more low end-to mid range power and torque, but top end feels like its choking. Maybe because of the small size filter.

This is compared to the old Frankencar intake with the K&N filter I had on the car. I also tried to use the K&N filter from the FC kit, but it doesn't fit.

Question, what filter should I use in place of the small injen filter? Do anybody know some part numbers for K&N?

I have a K&N 2820 (I think) It's straight sided and longer than the stock Injen.

Well, like I said it's away from the engine and not behind the radiator, so I cant see why it wouldnt technically be a CAI.

I also want to address the filter size, cuz the cone filter that came with it is a tad small. My bf has a couple cone filters for his mustang that he hasnt used lying around, which I'll experiment with. The problem is that the smaller knock-off cone filter barely fit, let alone a huge K&N.

I would have but I don't want a ugly 3'' hole whenever I decide on moving the intake. I'am really not in to that cutting stuff, but some like it and some don't.!!!!
