2k2-3 headlight housing w/out HID's????

Just a little curious, for no particular reason....has anyone put in the 2k2-3 headlight housings with regular halogen bulbs (no ballasts or anything) wired up to run like regular halogens? If so, how is the beam pattern, light output, etc. compared to stock 2k-2k1 headlights?

I'm not trying to do this for looks, just wondering if they have better light output than the poor output on OEM 2k-1's...

and please don't waste your time responding "why would you want to do that" or "why don't you get real HIDs" or whatever....I'm not interested in putting in HIDs, I'm just curious about the reflective and output qualities of the housing itself.

Also....not interested in the ebay projectors, so don't bother...

thanks..

Im sorry.. i have to ask u...why do u wanna risk some dumb thief thinking u have the HIDs and messup ur car to get to them... So think about that...
As to ur question.. im sure it can be done!... I think i've heard someone who did that and had their headlights stolen... so please think about it

I think you can do it. There are some differences with a couple of the connections on the back end that may need to be worked around.

But I ask you..... Why not just go with HIDs?

They are better, and don't try to act like you don't want a pair

I park my car on a compound with marines with M-16s at the gate during the day, and right in front of the house at night. This area is not having the HID theft issues that the NE and Florida are having.......there are at least 5 2k2-3 maxes on my street who have never had a problem, and I've never heard of any HID thefts locally.

either way, the question was theoretical...I'm not saying I want to do it, just thinking out loud and "wondering"

Rob, did you forget already? I'm "Cheap"
Neah....can't justify the price of HIDs....for $1K they better give me an extra 25hp in addition to better lighting...I'm just thinking out loud here.

maybe I'll come steal yours and your exhaust too while I'm at it....

really...I don't feel the need for HIDs (and yes, I have driven/been in cars with HIDs)....also the retrofit HID's into the OEM lights will get you a nice ticket in Fairfax if a cop happens to be paying attention....Joel you know how **** they are around here...

I'm taking this to mean that nobody has actually done the 2k2-3 housing without HIDs then?

might have to hit Brandywine and do some testing of my own....

Yeah, I just didn't think it'd be that big of a deal... esp with the number of cars running around with stock HIDs... then again, that's your point... those cars would be stock and yours wouldn't... its still hard to believe that these cops would go that far, although I shouldn't put anything beyond them these days...

Not worth the effort to install halogens, I've been asked by customers at my dealership about a halogen bulb in xenon housings.
Tried one on a saturday using a H7 bulb and reshaping the d2r bucket with the trusty dremel, the beam pattern was off horribly, that even with adjustment, the coverage was spotty. The Nissan DPSM said why am I doing such a silly thing, I said I was curious, since a customer asked about it. He even mentioned to me about the projectors, and I showed him pictures of my car from 2 weeks ago when someone tried to steal my left one and didn't bother to try the right one.
If you dare, purchase bi xenon projectors and modify them for your 2k-2k1 housing.
I've seen one which was done nicely, output was nice, and retain stock look.
