Fuel Mileage Issue

What are folks getting for mileage with a 2002 or 2003 SE? My 2003 was getting around 24 MPG combined / 28 highway but has gradually sunk to 22/25 over the past 6-9 months. Tires are Falken ZE512 @40PSI and I regularly use 89 octane with occasional 93. I'm a rather conservative driver.

What are the causes for mileage issues? With everything automatically adjusted and a vehicle that's under 2 years old, I would expect better.

same here as well, but the only reason i get bad milage is b/c im in NYC and theres alot of stop and go traffic. Go to the dealer have your fuel injectors cleaned, and your motor flushed i got better performace AND better gas milage after that was done.

Before the dealer, use seafoam. I got my milage back after using the stuff. Also, make sure your air filter is clean!

this also may be a sign of an O2 sensor going bad. how many miles? air filter and injector cleaner may help too.

Definitely the air filter. I noticed a change in my mileage when I replaced it.

THanks for the tips. What is "seafoam" and where can I find it? A local shop highly recommends Techron Injector CLeaner which he put in my son's Civic and seems to be helping.

I bought new air filter but the existing one still looked clean (the old "see sunlight through it" test) so it's still in the trunk. The car has 27K miles and most of my driving is rural with 35 to 50 MPH. I hate $30 fillups!
