automatic window issue on 2000
when i use the automatic window switch to roll the window up in my gf car 90% of the time when it rolls to the top it will immediatly come back down about 4-5 inches. It comes down to the same spot each time. its been doing this for about a year. Its just one of those things that drives us nuts.
does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Some sort of connection in there?
thanks for any help

it is just a regular window? any window mods? if not then i think it may think it is hitting somethin on teh way up, kinda like a safty feature? in terms of how to fix that i have no idea. BUT if you do have a window mod you can adjust the power of the window on the box.....OR maybe you should try greasing it up? or open up the door panel and see if a wire or somethin is getting caught in the mortor causing it to come back down. thpse are the options i would do first.

I have the same problem.
I know its the safety feature that causes this.
i'm guessing the window might be a bit off (upwards), so when the "auto" pushes the window up, it reaches the end of its course before its internal timeout, and thinks that its a fingers that it trapped between the window and the door... so it comes down.
But I don't know how to modify this to make it work right.
I would also like to hear from someone who fixed this!

there was a threat a while back about how to reset the sensor. supposedly it's a pain in the a$$ to do it from what i can recall. just bite the bullet and go to the dealer. they will do it for about $60. i had the same problem on my passenger side window in my 03.

My windows do the same thing or just don't roll down/up period. I was told the switch isn't making contact or something. I have to hit the panel hard in order for it to work half of the time. Hitting things always solves problems, but it is a pain.

mine has done that a couple times before, only has happened when i'm acceling on the highway and i do the auto roll up so i can concentrate at the wheel and it would shut and come down a couple inches, very weird, thought it was kinda funny at first. hasn't happened enough to worry about getting it "fixed" it seems like when it's doing that, i don't pull the switch all the way up to do auto, i pull it up enough so it "manually" goes up and will stay up, may just be a safety feature for when it goes up automatically since there is that chance of someone putting there fingers over the window at the last minute. maybe the wind had an affect? i donno

if someone wonders how the power window mechanism works, here's an interesting link.

this is an excellent website to learn stuff when you know little about it.
