engine dies = fuel cut problem????

it seems as tho a handfull of us 2k-2k1 owners are having problems with the engines turning off either at idle or neutral. apparently stick and auto have the same issues. i've already changed to newer maf, coils, and crank sensor. but now i just read a post about a fuel cut reprogram on the ecu.

can someone please enlighten me as to what this is and what it does? if i go to a dealership, will they know what i'm talking about? tsb???

A question like this can't really be answered by asking people online unless maybe someone else had the same problem and that was it. The only way to confirm fuel cut off is to check the fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge.

so your basically saying your engine stalls out or quits? Stalling is when your coming to stop and your engine cuts. Quits is when your moving and the engine dies, like regular driving.... could it be that you have dirty injectors? Most stalls are either caused by poor FUEL flow, not enough SPARK or just not getting the AIR you need. Besides replacing maf, coils, and crank sensor. Have you check your fuel pressure. To do this you'll need to T the line so you can get a pressure gauge on the fuel line. Your local autoshop will have this to rent out pretty cheap. As for the spark you can use a noid light to see if your getting the proper amount of volts to each spark. That you should also be able to get a autoshop.. As for the air you can just clean out the throttle body with some carb cleaner or use seafoam.. I'd also add some injector cleaner the next time you fill up at the pumps.. Amsoil makes a good product. You can find those at Napa.

neither stalls out or quits. kinda weird. this only happens when i get in the car and start the engine. if the engine's already warm, then it'll start up great, then peter out. but on the first start after the engine's cooled down, no problem.

for example. i get up in the morning and start the car. no problem, starts good, stays on. then i drive to the dry cleaners and pick up stuff. i get back in the car and it starts fine, then the revs go down and engine turns off. the way to get around this is to rev the engine a bit. if i blip the throttle then engine stays on thereafter.

weird....

btw. ses turned on today. hopefully the code will gimme something to go off of. last time the light came on (3 monthes ago) it was the coils. changed those out within 2 weeks..
