Polish for Headlights?

I know there was a post about this maybe a month or so ago but I can't find it. What do you guys use to polish out the pits from your headlights? I think it was a plastic polish. Sorry for the repost!

I use Blue Magic.. plastic and plexiglass ... but there are a lot of products out there.. like Mothers, Eagle one..etc... When I bought the Bule Magic I couldn't find the Mothers...but if I were you I would rather go with "Mothers"

I hear the 3M Plastic Polish is good, but haven't found any yet.

Also, Plexus (aerosol) is good stuff -- use it on my bike and other related items. Bikers swear by this stuff for routine maint. & cleaning.

My guess is that the haze on the lights will need something strong and abrasive like the 3M or Mothers polish, however.

Anybody have any opinions on Mothers vs. 3M???

There is actually a TSB for the cloudy headlights and the TSB instructs the dealer to use the 3M polish. So that should tell you something.

Yesterday I order a plastic polishing kit from caswell http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/plasticbuffkit.htm

I didn't order the grinder but all the cotton wheel and abrasive, I should have the kit next week, trust me caswell product are really top of the line products. I recently bought some used 2k2 hid not stolen one but rather from an org member, which have some scratch and stain, I'm going to put some Umnitza angel eyes but I though it would look way much better if I polish the housing inside out.

Cheers

Common Problem

Funny - I notice this same issue on other vehicles with HID's as well....including BMW's, MBenz, Acura - you get the idea.

Just noticed a TL-S yesteday....made me want to tell him to get some 3M polish!!!!

Thanks guys. I found that TSB about the 3M Polish. They say in the TSB to use a cloth to apply the polish. Do they sell the 3M Polish at any like Autozone, NAPA, Walmart, or any of those place?

I haven't found it at Pepboys, Target OR Walmart yet. Not sure about the others.

Also - I'm surprised the haze is on the iNSide of our lights....????
I hope mine is different.

NAPA can order the 3M, but will unlikely stock it. Meguire's makes a two part cleaner and polish for clear plastic, i'm going to use it for the first time today, i've seen it work great on headlights before, so i suspect it will be fine. I'll let you know how it goes.

if the haze is inside it is likely condensation, which 2 of my 5th-gen owning friends have. If it's inside polish will do nothing, it will only remove the pitting and fade from the bugs and rocks.

I have used both the 3m polish and the blue magic, I prefer the blue magic for the ease of the use and it works great, I used it on my 91 Stang lights were yellow after 2 or 3 coats they were clear again. I can get the 3m polish for cost if anyone is interested, but it may not save you to much after shipping??? Just my .02 tho

I bought mine in NAPA and it was in stock....but this NAPA is the oldest store around here and they are open like 3 days a week.

I was watching ESPN 2 the other day and i was watching the Mothers Super Chevy Show and they sugested using the mothers wheen and mag polish on the lenses. said it has micro abrasives in it so it shouldnt scratch the lens cover. Gave the headlight a great shine.

I've seen the whole line of 3M, including this polish at a Napa in my area...and I swear I've seen it at Pep Boys, but then I swear a lot for no real reason.

It's got to be my ****ty NAPA, they have some 3M, but the don't stock a lot, they always have to order it same day from the warehouse. I usually end up going to Pep Boys or Auto Zone.

Try the Meguire's product - it's actually a THREE part package: cleaner, polish, then detailer (not in specific order). It's no 9, 16, and 17 or something. I used it on headlights, aftermarket faceplate and they work well with soft polishing (not terry) cloth.
