2000 SE annoying whirling fan like interior noise
I just picked up my 2000 max with 43k miles. Great car! I notice a whirling fan like noise inside with the engine running even with the heater/air conditioner fan off. It does not change with engine RPM. I do not really notice it under the hood. I do notice that if I raise the rpm then shut the engine down then turn the key on not enough to start the engine, I here the same noise for a few seconds. It seems to be coming from the area near the break master cylinder. Are there any engine components that may make this noise? Maybe an air leak? It seems kind of annoying. The dealer sales guy says there is an additional cabin fan that is always on but I don’t think that’s it. I plan to ask the dealer service about it. Does any one have any ideas?
