Rotten egg smell inside car driving me crazy, HELP!
OK this smell is so strong it makes my eyes water. It is strongest at high revs. But also very apparent at normal driving. Now, I changed the main cat, hoping that was the reason for the smell, but its not , smell is even stronger. Now I am thinking what can cause this? If the pre cat doesnt work then shouldn't the main cat at least get rid of most fume smells? And I checked for air leaks in the whole exhaust and cant seem to find anything.

dont know what to tell you. before i read your whole thread i was gonna say the cat was bad. it isnt the precats. i have a ypipe and have never had that problem even at start up before the main cat warms up

I had to replace my cat after he crawled up into my engine bay to sleep a few night ago. Problem is, he was still in there when I started it the next morning. For a few days, the smell was pretty bad. I finally reached in there and scraped the bits out and got a new cat. This one doesn't go outside.
But seriously... I had this odor for a while in my Sentra. I switched fuels and that helped. In my Maxima, I catch a light whiff of it sometimes, but never enough to bother me, and never often enough for me to show it to the dealer.

Sulfur smell = sulfur dioxide (? -- correct me, please, we don't do emissions tests anymore in TX on 96+)
The BEST way to diagnose this problem PROPERLY is to take your car to an emissions testing machine and look for elevated NOx, HC (hydrocarbons), Sulfur Dioxide, or CO2.
Most COMMON cause but not ALWAYS of SO2 elevation is bad cat converters but CAN ALSO be caused by sulfated gasolines, bad combustion (bad coils, bad AFR), etc.
Dexcool (aka Pink coolant) is "flavored" to make it unappetizing to cats, animals, kids, etc. The green stuff is still very "sweet" smelling (the glycol.) Neither one if leaking would produce a sulfur odor that i know of. Also, R134a leak big enough to where you could "smell" a large amount of it in your car would be a leak big enough to render your A/C inoperative in a day or two, so that would be easy to check.
