Header Install

I bought a Stillen header a couple months ago but have been trying to find somebody to do the install. Any shop I asked said they couldn't quote but just work hourly...... not gonna happen!

I have a buddy who said he has a guy that will do it for $450...

Anybody have a time estimate on the install?

Thx!

well it's not the easiest job in the world. I think 450 is a pretty good price. It will take no less than 6 hours for sure. I just had mine installed a few weeks ago and it cost me a total of 527 dollars. They will probably have to take your radiator off to so they might charge you for coolant.

You shouldn't waste your time on the Stealin header. It won't make any more power than a Y pipe.

I do header installs for $250.

The radiator does not need to come off.

Are you serious about the Stillen Header? I've never heard much about them from anybody? I bought it used for $300 so I figured it was a great deal......

$250, that's very reasonable from what I've been hearing.

You're more than 1/2 way across the country from me though.

No one seems to have a write-up, it seems pretty straightfoward though.

Did you need to solder a little extra wire for the o2 sensors?

Also, from what most people have stated, the engine needs to be lifted out slightly using a lift. My question is, is a lift really needed or can it be done just by unbolting the cross memebr and jacking up/down accordingly during the install?

well the radiotor doesn't "have" to be removed. It just makes it easier on a 02-03 due to space issues. I have 70k on my motor to so the bolts were a little on the sticky side. As for the stillen headers,, I haven't heard good things about them either. I hear cattman is the way to go. I opted for hotshot but that's just cause they were cheaper. They have fittment issues but with a little tweaking it fit like a champ.

DO NOT install the Stillen headers. They do not make power. I'll try and find a link or two for you to read.

So I should what? Toss them up on ebay and hope they sell? I guess that's my best option........ DAMN! At least I didn't drop the $700-1000 retail on them. Thanks for the advice fellas!

How can Stillen say that they increase HP when they don't?

Anyone want to buy some Stillen Headers? hahaha.....

I would not pay somebody that much to do it because I am not sure they provide the gains. If I were you I would check out as many dynos as possible to be sure but I wouldn't pay anybody to do anything. SR20 should have know better considering he is called the "vq god". I would feel bad charging you knowing your wasting your money, but that's just me

Are you sure you read everything correctly? I already told him the Stealin headers were junk. However the Cattman and HS headers actually make power. But I do charge a little more to install the HS headers because of the fitment issues.

I also don't consider "guru" or "wizard" to mean the same thing as "god" and I ask that no one call me that too.

If you gotten a Stillen sticker with it, then its all good. Power is there, but only with a Tunned By Stillen sticker. Sell those suckers quick, no one on the .Org will buy these off ya. Radiator does not need to come out, just make sure to soak the bolts up with some WD40 or any kinda penetrating fluid. I've done a few header installs on my car, and they aint that hard, for 500 bux I will do them all day long just keep them coming 250 SR20DEN charges for them is a good and resonable deal. If you have done a few of these installs then its not too hard and doable on a lift in about 2-3 hours- depending if they fit good or not.

Because we figured he was smart enough to get the impression to sell those and get Cattman or HS.
