Mods you regret...

those questionable mods that made you say 'wth was i thinking'.

for me it was a lame attempt at adding interior 'mood lighting'. at first i thought it might be 'cool' to add one of those blue neon tubes that pulse with music. then it branched out to putting blue leds in the foot wells, in addition to the neon tube. even though it's wired pretty good i almost never turn it on unless i'm riding solo. now i just chalk it up to a drunken weekend filled with boredom. i might post some pics later.

the other mod i regret even considering is the clear tailight fixtures.

Mostly my Carbon Fiber hood. It fits poorly and is has developed cracks in the clearcoat finish. I really cheapens the way the car looks.

I dont really want to get off topic (well yeah I do), but why on earth did cams take your low end power away. I thought from reading about those cams that they increase power like over 5k RPM. They didnt say anything about robbing low end power? Would you mind elaborating?

1. Installing Eibach springs on stock struts = Blown rears after 5000 miles
2. Thinking that any straight thru muffler (Tried Ractive, Remus, Pro 1, Dynomax and now back to stock) would be quiet with Y-pipe or Headers
3. RVM UDP - What a piece of junk
4. Injen / Frankencar Intake - Either loses performance or its just noise
5. JMS Upper Grill
6. Full Size Roof Spoiler - Switched to the half, much cleaner look

My sig pic is very outdated. I no longer have that custom Stillen Front lip or the Sarona sides. I currently have no front lip and have changed to the stillen sides.

My biggest regret would be my warpspeed exhaust. If I were to do it again I would just buy headers and b-pipe leaving the rest stock including over axel and muffler. For the money I have wasted I could have had such a sweet setup

Personally I don't like the rear side clears, but the fronts are ok. IMO.

The Franken mid pipe I cut so it would fit with the stock airbox, i don;t regret, but now when running it coupled with the coathangar GAB, it's god awful loud, but much better when only running the midpipe and closed stock air box.

Exactly...in my personal opinion and from experiences, the midpipe is just obnoxious noise with no performance gain.

I alos aree but,

I was very surprised when I heard it along with the GAB. I had just the GAB and it sounded Ok.

Then I cut the fc midpipe about 2 inches so it would fit using the stock air box coupled with the GAB, and I'd say the noise increased about 70-80%, VERY loud.

But when using the franken midpipe and closed airbox(no GAB), it sounds much quieter, significantly more quiet than with even the GAB just alone.

I think, In general, moving to a more agressive cam hurts your low end torque. It is a trade off for my hp up top.

one of my door lights burned out and the local auto store was out of OEM replacement sylvanias......so I got these stupid "Type R" blue bulbs that looked completely retarded...they shined like baby blue. Lame. Waste of $3.99. I now have white bulbs in the doors.

Besides that....no regrets.

warpspeed y and bpipe.

grill tech inserts.

injen was expensive, but hey it's not bad...

Other then that, im happy with my mods. The injen may be noise, but it sounds good with the headers and exhaust. If you count dollars per power, then any mod we put on our cars is a waste of money, it's a subjective thing. If power was all you sought get something like an rx7 that can put down better numbers for less.

redline cf hood - it looks good from a distance but was easily the cheapest piece of junk i have ever bought, and like 03BlkSETE said, a sorry cf hood will make your car look much worse and cheap ( and thats not why we spend money is it ? , lol !) finally i got tired of being cursed out and put down so i took it off and put the stock hood back on. WOW ! im back to a very nice looking max.

Powetech Muffler... what a piece of ****. I did regret getting the budget bpipe, but I finally found a good muffler shop that could refab it and make it fit.

My Max is only modded with a Cattman Y-pipe,that I dont regret in the least.

But, I did go mod crazy on my 99 Accord and regretted the following:
- Stillen FPR (useless on NA car IMHO)
- Adjustable Cam Gear (limited benefit on SOHC 4 cyl motor)
- A custom exhaust with coffee can muffler (later replaced by an Apexi WS exhaust)
- Accord Type R stickers

Ah, yes. Lowering springs on stock struts was/is a waste of money. I should have listened to all those who said to do it right the first time.

Not sure about your number 4. I've seen to many dyno's on intakes that made HP. Still, I'm sticking with my giant popcharger because it seem like it's working for me. My Frankencar midpipe is still sitting on the shelf.

As far as your number 3, I'll have to wait till spring to hear the HS header/Cattman catback combo, but I think I'll like it.

1. The Eibachs thinking they were softer than the H&Rs, because I trusted the folks at TireRack more than the folks on this site -and the folks on this site were right and the TireRack folks were wrong
2. The Michelin Pilots A/S. Rough, noisy, harsh, difficult to balance, I hated them

has anyone swapped their red tail lights for the smoked ones? I think they might look nice on the black car. Oh, and if they aren't as bright as the stock tail lights, forget it. I want nice, not rice.

EDIT - I guess i mean the SE tails, like BLKMAX005SPD's
