wow. there's been some pretty good input here from exhaust mods, to tranny mods, suspension mods, maintenance stuff that should really be left alone, and various other stuff provides some really good insight.

i'm glad i've gotten bogged down or should i say 'satisfied' with the mods i've already done. these responses have definitely made me rethink some of my future plans.

btw i don't regret getting the A/T but i can sympathize with those that do. for me the convenience (my laziness) and torque of the 3.5 in traffic and around town are perfectly acceptable.

I also regret (sortof) getting an auto. My close friend has an 03 6speed and even though its not too much quicker, it certainly feels it. My friend as an 02 Spec-V with lots of bolt-ons (header, exhaust, CAI) and I love whoopin him with an auto!!!

I too regret the getting the automatic. Sometimes I lie in bed, and dream of shifting, like the good ol' days.... Anyway, I got a good deal on the car, and I'll deal with the AUTO for at least a year. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

No mods....yet.

dissapointed with wasting money on aftermarket products with marginal performance.
i've ditched an injen, the tein s-techs and kyb gr-2s... all that money could have bought me coilovers or headers. there are benefits to having a "stock" ride, cops tend not to notice.

1. PIAA 910s as driving lights - overpriced for the PIAA name, don't fit as well as I thought they would in looking at the dimensions on paper, nearly half the cost of HID fogs, and the worst part - impossible to put the stock fogs back in.

2. Grill Tech lower grills - rusted, took 'em off.

Haven't had any regretted mods yet.

I wish I would have splurged on tint or something for the outside of the car that would make it seem not so stock but I build my car to be fun to drive not to look at sooo EU and cams are next.

Funny to watch a 5 year old thread suddenly come to life again, but it sure was an interesting read! After five years, I bet there are some new "worst mod" opinions out there.

My most dissatisfying mod: Brembo blanks. Just because they're branded "brembo" doesn't mean they're any better than the crappy nissan rotors. They don't last, they need to get bedded in at least 3 times a year, and they rust like Tin Man.

Other than that, I'm downright thrilled with the mods on my Maxima.

- E46 LED DDEs. They looked great for about a month, then one went, then another... they are gone now.

- Sumitomo HTR Z IIs. Decent on dry, bad treadwear and terrible in rain for a UHP Tire.

- SSIM: After seeing the dynos, not worth it. Should've stuck to the block off plate.

- Aerocatch LOCKING latches: Should've gotten the ones w/o locks as I've heard the keys break in them anyways.

- Bad Driver Friend Mod: Hit a manhole cover dead on using my LTB Stage 2 as a helmet.

So far I do not regret any of my mods. If anything, going to 45-series tires after having an eibach/illumina setup. It rides harsh at times. Luckily socal roads aren't too bad. Additionally, spending the $$$ to upgrade to 2k2 hids even though the upgrade was partially subsidized by my insurance company after my front end accident.

Haha, if anyone else has followed the threads you've made regarding the modifications you have done to you car, they'd get a good kick out of that post...glad you can take the criticism with a grain of salt though.

Getting back on topic: I had my first car for that stuff. All of my mods are currently non-regrettable

1 - Buying rims from M23bca which came with unusable tires and rattle canned along with chipped paint....

2 - Not getting coilovers or headers outright.

3 - Nopi NX - never used it =( got a house instead.

dropping only the front on stechs, i didnt drop the back in fear of rubbing with 245 40 tires. shoulda did it all at once. and also not going with eibach just cuz i got the stechs cheaper, but the illuminas set to 5 help alot.
its funny everyone is talking about not getting 6 speed cuz ive been trying to find one since i bought mine a couple months ago.

1. Umnitza Slimline angel eyes. All 4 worked for maybe two days. $175.00+ and a LOT of time down the drain.
2. Cloth seats. I HATE them. I really wish I could've found a loaded 6-speed Maxima.
3. I don't regret getting the 6-speed. It makes up for the crappy cloth seats!

nothing regretted on the maxima, but in the past

Painting things out of boredome - primarily the interior panels and under hood components. I will never again paint an interior piece or under hood part a contrasting color.

1.) Getting into a fender bender so now my paint sucks

2.) Cheap CF hood

3.) Cheap D2 coilovers.. i think KSport is coming out with their new line of rubber inserted top-hats which will solve all noises.. very looking forward to this.

4.) Having an AT Maxima

I don't regret any of the Mods to my 2003 A/t...Not even the Injen which made awesome power @ low and midrange but had a flat spot around 5500rpm in 3rd or 4th gear @ WOT.... My ride is solid, clean, quiet, smooth and steathy......

But do they warp like crappy nissan rotors?

Guess I'll start looking at some of the cryo-treated rotors. Or I guess I could have my nissan's turned and see if better pads (Hawk HPS) helps.

I had rims for about 4 years before going back to stock. Other than that I only have the non-ghetto GAB.

Best part about having the car since new? I know how it's been treated, it's paid for, there is no warranty, and it's resale value is low enough that it isn't worth getting rid of. And, if I'm going to have to replace worn out stock items, I might as well replace them with stuff that is better! And now that it's not my main ride I can do whatever I want and not worry about not having a car!

Worst part? The car is 8 years old and everybody on this site seems to think it's pointless to start modding a car that old......or every question "has already been asked at least 15 times and you need to use the search."
