ck engine light

Hello everyone,
I'm sure this has been posted before but I can't find it. I was just wondering if the ck engine light will come on when it is time for a scheduled maintenance.

nope. the light is indicating a problem. you will have to have the code(s) pulled in order to see what the issue is. any obd2 reader will do but keep in mind that autozone does this for free in some states.

Advance will also pull your code for free, and give you a printout.

Thats what I was afraid of. I just hit 44970 and was hoping it was just a reminder that it's time for the 45000 mile service. I'll give autozone a call.

WHAT SERVICE SHOULD BE DONE AT 45K MILES? I JUST HIT THAT MARK AS WELL ON MY 2K. I HAVEN'T HAD A LIGHT COME ON THOUGH. THANKS

I don't think any work is needed at 45k miles except the basic checks. I think the manual says work should be done at 15k 30k 60k miles.

It was recommended to me to do the 15,000 mile service. Update on the ck engine light---turns out that both of my rear o2 sensors needed to be replaced--covered under warranty.
