Problem with 20's??? HELP!
Problem with 20's??? HELP!
Ok, here is the deal,
I have 20" rims on my 5th gen and I just dropped it with tokico illumina suspension and vogtland springs.... problem is the SLIGHTEST bump and my rear left tire hits something hard! But it's only that tire! The other side has never ever hit!?! The offset on the rear is 20 and the front is 10 is that a problem since it's a staggered off set? I am just looking for suggestions because it's so slammed I can't even drive anywhere now....

You could try those rubber spring stops (or whatever they are called) they sell at PepBoys. It is basically a piece of rubber you place in between the coils of the rear springs to keep it from compressing to much.
No I am definately no pimp that's for sure! Sorry can't marry you honey because I work too much we'd never see each other... anyways guys thanks for any ideas ya might have its just frustrating to hear it hit. I think since it's only the rear right side that something may be wrong with my axel or frame??? I may just have to put my rear stock springs back on...

Holy, some of you sounds like immature elementary school children. Grow up!
As for your rubbing issues, you're most likely rubbing the fender where the fender curves in. Your offsets are way off. They should be no lower than 35mm's, or else you'll be asking for trouble.
I have 19's and tend to rub the rear passenger side fender much more than I do the rear drivers side. All I can suggest is getting your fenders rolled.

OFFSET. Even with 17's you're gonna rub if the rims are a 20 and 10 offset. The max offset you can really run on the back without rubbing is MAYBE 30, but more likely about 35. How far out are those rims sticking out from the wheel wells????
i had the same problem. my problem was on the rear passenger side. tire would rub against the lip where the rear bumper is connected to the car. had to beat it in a lil. try cleaning in there really good, put some tire shine on the tires and go for a short drive. see where the tire shine rubs off to see where its rubbing.
hope this helps,

Here is the answer!!!
Get some airbags!!! Masa (don't know if you know him) had the same problem with his Lexus he dropped it with 20's and his front tires where rubbing..he got airbags instead and it solved the problem....I don't know what was rubbing....and even if airbags would help....but it would look sick to see a max with air bags....hehehehe

Thanks so much for the help. I rolled my fenders before I ever put the 20's on. I will take ya'lls suggestions and try them out tomorrow! I will let you know who's ideas worked! Thanks again for all the concern and input! -MG

The only pics I have are on my website www.cardomain.com/id/themaximagirl
Yeah they do look funny on 20's because the front sits higher and the back is low when they have stock suspension. Plus they are so high they look like they are going four-wheelin. It looks much better now that it is dropped but makes that damn noise!
