Dim SES light?

I've started noticing that the Service Engine Soon light on my '02 is lit up at night, but veeeeeeery dimly. If I turn the headlights and dash lights off it still is lit, but again, very dimly. I've seen it come all the way on in the past (fuel filler cap) so I know it's not "on", but I'm wondering what this might indicate, if anything?

It's a known problem. Some have had it fixed and others (like me) just ignore it. Many/Most 2k2s had that.

Mine has been doing it too. Is it a simple fix or does the stealer have to order any replacement parts?

The dealer will tell you the whole dash console has to be replaced. I'm not sure if there's another way to fix it, and it's not that big a deal to me, so I left it.

Yeah - screw that. Everytime I take the car in for something - it ends up being several trips. Once for them to check the car, then bring it back when the part is in stock, then I find out they messed something else up on the car and the process starts over.

I just live with it. It's a diode in the instrument panel, but they will want to replace the entire cluster. They'll set the mileage to the current reading on your odometer.
Like others, I didn't want them to 'fix' it cause I figure it would take another few trips back to them to fix stuff they would mess up.

Same here, definitely don't need anymore rattles from them taking it all apart and whatnot.

I had the same problem on my car. The dealer replaced my entire instrument cluster. They'll have to hold the car for a day or two though because the mileage has to be the same as the cluster that comes in. It was a pretty painless fix.
