Which fuse to Rearview Mirror

I want to disable my self dimming rear view mirror. Does anybody know if it has a dedicated fuze? If yes, which one is it?
Owners manual does not have a layout.......

Well, I am tired of turning it off every time I start the car. I don't like that mirror dimmer....i think it is very unsafe at night...

That mirror is god's gift to cars... Works wonder with all these suvs here beaming their HIDS into other cars.... I guess to each his own... I don't know if it has a single fuse. It might be married to other electrical components.. If anything, cut the wire...

I have tinted windows and at night with it being on, it is more difficult to see when backing up....I wish the mirror defaulted to OFF instead of ON.

i'm gonna have to agree here. mine is always dark and i ALWAYS turn it off when i turn on the car. agreed, it is a PITA and i would much rather not use it. the tint itself does more than enough to decreasing the light coming in.

I wouldnt recommend cutting the wire, what if you sell the car later on and that person would like to have it? I love that mirror just like the others have said it keeps me from having to use the old flip lever!!! Just my .02

You must have really dark tint on your back window.

no, could be a problem with the rearview mirror itself. not rare, as i've heard these problems before....i have 15% tints and when that thing is on, i cna't see a damn thing. i'll be figuring out a way to disable it.

15% tint...no wonder, thats probably illegal in every state. Thats almost limo tint so you are always going to have some difficulty getting a good view with that tint.

well 15% is my rear windshield, which isn't illegal. rest of the car is 24% (supposedly 20, but it tested 24% last time i got pulled over).

reason for the different rear/rest of car was simply light aesthetics. rear will always look lighter when you look directly at it because it's backdrop is the front windshield, whereas if you look at a side window, it's backdrop is the other sides ALSO dark window, thus making that side window darker. i made the rear windshield darker to even out the darkness. plus, it looks nice.

What kind of problem do you propose? My window has 35% tint and the mirror still works as designed. I don't have any problems seeing behind me at night when I back up.

malfunction of the rearview mirror itself. i've seen and heard and even met a few people who say their mirror gets real dim even thought there's no glare present to make it dim. i'm just saying i've heard a number of cases where too dim was a problem.

I personally don't like mine either, but for the opposite reason. It takes too long to dim when somebody drives up close or has the high beams on.

seem a bit sarcastic....i'd agree if i were the only one making this claim, but i'm agreeing with the exact same issues as this other member, and i'm also saying that many more have said this.

I asked the same question on the torontomaxima.com website. one guy had an interesting solution...

There is a way .. however it will involve a hack mod..

The rearview mirror is actually tapped into the reverse switch of the tranny. When you pop the car in reverse, the mirrror will not dim ..

So if you want to, you can setup a switch to fool the mirror into thinking that the car is always in reverse, therefore it will never dim.

Basically you are just making a switch to turn off the dimmer and not let it default back to auto mode again.

Unfortunately, he never went into details and I never pursued it....sooo I just live with it.

^Do what he said. Takes 2 seconds and you can plug it back in anytime if you want to use the mirror or sell the car.

I have one good solution. Just get a new mirror altogether. And if you have problems when backing up because of the dark tint then just install one f those really small cameras like they have on the back of tour busses with a screen up front so you can have a camera view when reversing. Just my solution. Hey my mirror works fine and I would'nt disable it.

Mine dims when I am in reverse. Actually that's exactly what I am trying to accomplish, for it not to dim when in reverse.....it's alright when just driving.
I am pullin the plug in the back, simple enough
