Engines the same in 5.5 and 6th gen?

Hello,
I bought a 2002 Maxima with a broken engine(water damage). I can also buy a 2004 engine/tranny with ECU. Does anybody know if mounting is the same for these two engines. The only thing I am concerned is the instrument cluster. They are very different, so I don't know if 2004's ECU has the same plugs.

heard the mounting is different, cause a altima 02 Engine don't fit in the 02 maxima frame. so a maxima 04 is built on a 02 altima frame,

If you called nissan and asked you could have known a week ago.

Call them and see what they say.

there could have been some minor changes, however the overall engine is still the vq35de. Some things such as the lower intake manifold is different (I recall a member switching these out a while back)

its also depressing how much "made in mexico" stuff is tagged all over the engine bay and parts on the altimas and 6th gens
