MAF Sensor

I just bought a 2000 SE 5 Speed a month ago and I couldn't be any happier. I figured it was the best car I could buy for my money. Anyways I noticed that there was a hesitation in the acceleration when I hit about 3500 RPM. Been reading about it and it sounds like need a new MAF which is a very common problem for the 5th Gens. Where can I get a new one preferably without going to the dealer and how much should I expect to pay?

Not sure about all of this hoopla about bad MAF's. I have a 2003 and have the same situation. It's almost like "turbo lag". My mechanic at Nissan says it is what it is. Keep in mind your dealing with electronics and not a cable to the carb system. When stepping on the gas pedal with a cable it opens up the carb and there is nothing holding it back. With the modern day electronic system MAF it has to read the pedal being stepped on and just doesn't seem to read it quick enough thus causing a little bit of lag before it kicks in. I should have kept my 98 SE.
